New Rhyming Chaos podcast in which I interview CNN chief international correspondent Clarissa Ward on reporting from a capital city as a horde of religious extremists take over—and I'm not talking about Washington D.C.!
How does a city feel when it's invaded by an occupying army?
Clarissa Ward has reported for CNN on many of the major wars of the last decade. She talks about entering Kabul as it fell to the Taliban, Syria, Ukraine, and more.

It’s like a bizarro British version of Trump’s TikTok dilemma. The risks and incentives are all mixed up. None of the current options are palatable, so the decision is kicked down the road.

Trump's China theatrics of the last nine months have achieved nothing, except for concentrating minds in Beijing on the urgent need for technological and financial independence from the U.S., and maing clear "how much stronger China has become":

Trump’s China deal appears to be the minimum required to be market neutral. A modest tariff reduction, delay of rare earth restrictions, possibility of Nvidia chip sales, some soybean purchases. Maybe more importantly there’s a commitment to ongoing talks. Just enough to shrug at.

The whole Third Term Project isn’t actually about Trump. The people behind it know he will likely be dead or enfeebled by 2029. It is about them, the vastly unpopular group around Trump, wanting to grift us forever without elections.
