Before we shut down the government… maybe we should try listening first. 💬

Every conversation is a chance to build someone up.
But too often we talk before we listen.

Try this instead:
“I heard you say ____. Is that right?”
A pause like this changes everything. #Listening #Communication #Leadership

I am at a reunion with my first cousins. Today we are going to each pick a card from the reFramed deck and share a time that we wished we or our children had used the sentence frame on the card, rather than what was avtually said. Come back here tomorrow to see what happens.

In coaching all questions are important. But listening counts for a lot more. Is it a coincidence that "silent" is an anagram for "listen?" This is why one reFramed card reminds us to ask an open ended question and then, "Hush."

Clarity doesn’t mean saying more.
It often means saying less — but with intention.
That’s one of the reminders built into reFramed.
Where do you wish for more clarity in your daily communication?

I am convinced that being able to understand what it feels like for someone to be in their own shoes is needed now more than ever. That requires recognizing the needs underneath feelings.
The reFramed cards helps us connect more clearly and listen more deeply.

Communication is harder than it looks.
We think we’re being clear, but others hear something different.
We rush to respond instead of pausing to understand. This seems to be happening now more than ever.
I'd love to hear your ideas about ensuring clarity is achieved.

Somehow we need to stop the media and politicians from using the term “DEI;” if you are anti diversity, equity, and inclusion then you are for uniformity, inequity, and exclusion. Say what you mean!
