The Great Lakes has seen an increase in both winter-only and, more importantly, year-round observing platforms over the past couple of years. GLOS expects these platforms to be reporting data on Seagull this winter: glos.org/2025-26-wint...

50 years ago today, 29 lives were lost with the sinking of the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald. Since the night of the wreck, great effort was made to increase the number of observing instruments around the Great Lakes to make sure no such disaster happens again. glos.org/the-legacy-o...

The Buoys of October!
Managed by the Upstate Freshwater Institute (UFI) since 2019, this buoy network has been enhanced and built out to better collect data along the southern shore of Lake Ontario.
