(1/4) #OneHealth & #UTI research means protecting biodiversity through better diagnostics and care. Even a UTI in a rescued fox can teach us how to heal ecosystems. 🦊🌿

From 🦔🐭 to 🐊🐺, urinary symptoms can spike with environmental change. We talked about this yesterday 🧵👇

(1/4) Here's another way out veterinary #UTI themed #UTIhour fits into #OneHealth:

UTIs in animals can reflect environmental health risks 🙀😱🙀

From polluted water to heat stress, veterinary research shows how our surroundings shape urinary health.

(1/4) Here's an example of how the topic of our Oct 14 #UTIhour, veterinary #UTI, fits into the #OneHealth model:

Many UTIs in pets are caused by E. coli, the same bacteria responsible for most human infections. These bugs can share resistance genes across species. 😬

Our veterinary-themed #UTIhour isn't just about the cute pets we've been posting.

Our speakers all believe in the #OneHealth principle: that human, animal, and environmental health are deeply connected. 🧍‍♀️🐶🌿🧫
🧵

For example: infected cows can pass disease to humans.

Veterinary urinary tract health was special to Tweety Cat (not a real 🐼), who developed bladder cancer in her old age and had many #UTI-like symptoms.

Healthy animals in farms 🐮 and even zoos 🐯 can still carry antibiotic-resistant bacteria 😱🦠

Understanding which of these bacteria can spread to humans, how they can do so, and how to treat it is critical.

That's why our Oct 14 (12EDT/1600UST) #UTIhour is on veterinary #UTIs
