I definitely underestimated the Kawai's potential. Even in sample-form, the sound-designers created some inspiring stuff.

Found a Kawai K4 sampleset in .sfz format. Converted those to .elmulti files to play with on the Tonverk.
I have my own 90s ROMpler library now.

You got me going on a Vibert "trip" right now.
Haven't listened to YosepH in a million years.

The "final boss" of mixing/mastering for me is making extreme sounds retain their "edge" while taming harsh frequencies.

The three kings of bass-frquency engineering: Luke Vibert, Mark Pritchard, and Jack Dangers.

yosepH, himself!

That's right: it runs on a real Amiga 1200!

"Callback - The Legend of the Power Handle" is such an inside reference about an, ahem, fictitious company that I doubt many will get it; but if you know, you know. This game a native Amiga 1200 program, emulated on Mac/Win, by Cenk/Dataline pinkparrotstudio.itch.io/callback

Well said.

Did I use some Tonverk presets on this album? Yes. Why? Because they're darn good and I feel very close to this machine, after being involved with it for so long.

You know how Steam logs how many hours in a game you've played? I wonder how many hours I've put into Reaper, Live, and FL Studio over the years.

My buddy, Lampeo, has released his fourth compilation of works created on the Buchla Music Easel. A bunch of really nice melodies dancing around minimalist, tonal beats. Really enjoyable even if you don't know/care what a Music Easel is.

Damn, I am fitting that curve. Whatever that curve means.

Well, I notice the art on those Evel releases, so yeah, I'm a fan.
January 24, 2026 at 9:58 PM
Ok! I created some cover art! Almost there...

I'd like to develop a good music-sharing pipeline to where I can just attach a cool track to a little video or whatever and upload it here or YT or IG or whatever.
The bottleneck is the video because I know I'll spend too much time on it for a 2 minute thing. Maybe a quick visualizer in FL?

Music "sucks" these days? No, it doesn't.
There's actually too much good music out there to consume, I find.
I literally can't even make a dent in my queue of albums or artists I want to listen to before a new one comes up!

I'm a Big Fan of Shadow Dancer's more ambient works on this collection. Any of their tracks could have been among the best from Biosphere, AE, etc.
Check out "The Light," which gives "Vletrmx"-level gravitas. youtu.be/rZjAbzRlOq8...

Somehow, I always felt a little more at home with my Analog Four MKI than with the MKII. I was definitely quicker with it. The sound is "better" on the MKII and I do love the "QPER" (quick performance) control, which allows you to tie multiple macros together.

Do you do all of the Evel releases?
January 24, 2026 at 3:38 PM
And @arpegiator.bsky.social of Shadow Dancer, of course
