We have figured out a way to quantify eDNA metabarcoding data just like trawls do for estimating 🐟 abundance. It's not the easiest paper to digest but I will be submitting an R package for automating the model, then it should be plug&play. Anyone interested to collab?

DNA in sediments tells a longer story!
New research shows sedimentary #eDNA can persist up to 132 days & be up to 1800x more concentrated than in water.

What do you think about this?

We map 3D distributions of 12 US West Coast fish species using only eDNA. By combining qPCR and metabarcoding, we turn molecules into abundance maps—revealing biodiversity hotspots and a path to continental-scale monitoring. #eDNA #ecology

🚨Paper published!

Our manuscript on the differential decay rate of eDNA, erRNA and emRNA of Dolphin🐬 #eDNA is out! Is this the fastest turnaround for a manuscript ever? It certainly is for me.

Working on some spatial questions with regard to #eDNA and wanted to pose a quick poll to the community, what’s the minimum eDNA dispersion scale in marine environment? Is it 100s of m, km, 10s of km, 100s of km?

What happens to different eDNA components in water? 🌊💧

We tested particle size (small vs. large) and DNA molecule length (86 vs. 387 bp) in recirculating streams—and what we found might surprise you! 🧵👇

The US has such an abundant #wildlife and mesmerizing #nature. It’s a buzz killer for spontaneity that you have to pay and reserve every time you visit but maybe that’s what kept this diversity from disappearing (?).
