More than 20 years after Boulder County voted to fund FasTracks, we are still waiting on our train – while RTD sits on $1 billion in reserves.
RTD’s budget woes raise serious questions about its priorities – and FasTracks (Editorial)
Next year, six seats on RTD’s board, including those representing Boulder and Longmont, will be up for election. And as it looks now, that board is in dire need of a shake-up to reinvigorate leader…

"It’s now been a few weeks since the One Big Beautiful Bill became law. ... I’ve been waiting to hear what a comprehensive Democratic response might be, if only because it seems obvious that many people might want something else to rally around."
We need an alternative to the One Big Beautiful Bill. This is it. (Opinion)
It’s now been a few weeks since the One Big Beautiful Bill became law. It seems clear that the new law will make our debt situation worse and many of our people poorer. I’ve been waiting to hear wh…

Not only does deporting criminal defendants effectively set them free in a foreign country, but it also prevents victims from having their day in court and those who are not guilty from proving their innocence. It makes a mockery of the American judicial system and our supposed values as a nation.
Deporting criminal defendants is not justice (Editorial)
Caught up in ICE’s haphazard dragnet are individuals who have been charged with crimes but who have not yet stood trial. Not only does deporting criminal defendants effectively set them free in a f…

NOAA is one of our most important tools in helping us protect ourselves from the dangers of the natural world. In the face of a changing climate, we need that protection now more than ever.

After months of concerted work to undermine the checks and balances designed to limit abuses from the executive office, Trump has engendered the situation he’s so obviously been dreaming of: bringing down the might of the U.S. military on Americans. Specifically, Americans who don’t support him.
Editorial: Trump is testing the final guardrails of democracy
By deploying the National Guard to quell mostly peaceful protests in California, Donald Trump is seemingly trying to create the flashpoint situation he needs to have a reason to once and for all cr…
