Everything is official, so I can finally share that our #DISES proposal on the #PollinatorCommons has been funded by
#NSF!
We'll be working w/ small-scale apple producers in N India & Central NY to study collective action for the conservation of wild pollinators. 🐝🌸🌳🍎👩‍🌾

I had such a wonderful time visiting @caryinstitute.bsky.social last week. Everyone was so kind & generous & curious. Feel like I made a bunch of new science pals!
Thanks to my longtime pal Amy Zanne for the invite.
On Thu, Oct 16 @ 11am ET, join us for a virtual science seminar with @cornelluniversity.bsky.social's @gigirose.bsky.social:

And the stress of figuring out how to move forward w a project when u have no idea if $ will continue -or-
the weird feelings of “it sucks right here, but it’s worse for that person/dept /school so I guess I shouldn’t vent” -or -
the sense of dread for even more newly hired or USGS co-op colleagues
It would be nice if there were more support groups for what’s happening to scientists right now. I don’t need more information firehose or more suggestions for ways to take action; I’m set on both. I just want to talk to other new PI’s about how hard it is right now

In the past two days I have dried & pinned bees, helped plan forest plots for lidar scans & spent hours planning for experimental games to feed an agent based model.
This is how you Interdisciplinary Science.

As scientists, we must continue to support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Most importantly, broadening participation in science is the right thing to do. In addition, numerous peer-reviewed pubs have shown that diverse teams are more productive and innovative. Diversity has benefits!
