Canterbury Bells, Campanula Medium, Inside the stem in bloom. While these are used in floral arrangements they are actually considered an herb and can be eaten. They also attract bees and butterflies.

Bees are the heroes of humanity. 35% of the world’s food depends on bees. It should be higher; this is why we have a rise in disease and allergies. With pesticides and environmental decline we are slowly killing ourselves.

Out of the storm. This photo was quite the anomaly. As the storm approached I was taking the shot. I did not see the approaching craft because it was going too fast. I only saw it in the photo.

In Florida there is a wise saying: “If there is a lake there is an alligator in it.” Trust me it is true, snakes, alligators, iguanas and bugs.

Nephrolepis cordifolia is a fern with many names and variations. Sometimes called Tuberous Sword Fern, Ladder Fern or Fishbone Fern. It can become invasive but all the same I find it quite lovely.

Costume for Halloween. This man dug an actual hole, filled it with glowing lights and fog and jumped out when approached. Scared a lot kids coming out of that hole but it was all in good Halloween fun.

Petunia, one of the flowers of South America. The Maya and Inca believed the scent warded off monsters and spirits of the underworld. They also made “magical” drinks from the buds.

Ross Fountain in Princess Street Gardens looking up at Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh is one of my favorites. The history and authors who left an enduring mark, intrigue and murder and the occasional ghost. My kind of city.

Hydrangea macrophylla is native to Japan but is found all around the world. People are full of opinions, disagreements and hate. Nature just lives its purpose, simplistic and beautiful. I breathe more peacefully when I am in it.

History lesson, this is St. Augustine Florida. The oldest occupied city in America founded on Sept. 8, 1565. 55 years before the Mayflower ever set sail. Ponce de Leon came looking for the Fountain of Youth. The Indians were already here and then the Spanish before white America.

Candle Larkspur, I post this as my way of lighting a candle for Kahled Nabhan, the kindness in the world, the one who understood life and the afterlife, the one who lost what was precious but helped so many who also lost. The one who showed us what humanity should be. May God grant him eternity.
