Coming Soon: EVOLVER:62. Mark Lewisohn is the highly respected #Beatles researcher and author, so this new documentary about the group in 1962, will, no doubt hold some gems for fans.
The word is that I’ve a 'movie' out shortly. It's true. My 2022 theatre show The Beatles / Evolver:62 was filmed, and selections from that + new material shot in Liverpool and London comprise a feature that'll be streaming from Feb 2026. More details to follow, sample here vimeo.com/1023543808?f...

RINGO (1973) by #RingoStarr who finds his mojo and delivers a hit album. Previous singles like IT DON'T COME EASY and BACK OFF BOOGALOO perhaps helped set the tone - upbeat, cheery, catchy numbers. Produced with a little help from his #Beatles friends and a solid cast of music luminaries. A fun play

Today's listen: continuing ALL THINGS MUST PASS (1970)(Super Deluxe) by #GeorgeHarrison Disc 3 contains the day 1 sessions of demo & first takes. Even in their raw, unpolished developmental stage, these songs stand out as something special. Also features tracks that missed the album but have merit

Today's listen: GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROADSTREET. The soundtrack to #PaulMcCartney 's much derided 1984 feature film irked fans with re-recordings, reworkings of some #Beatles classics. New tracks are fine. Ringo, David Gilmour, George Martin rock up. NO MORE LONELY NIGHTS the big hit. Mixed results!

It's Library Lovers' Day this week. Flashback to 2023 when I promoted the day and theme for the day with a Spotify playlist.

Coming Soon: MAN ON THE RUN, the soundtrack to #PaulMcCartney 's upcoming documentary. Only three unreleased tracks. A bit disappointing. I wish they'd dust off more rarities or live tracks. We know they're out there. I don't care for coloured vinyl.

Paul McCartney | News | 'Man on the Run - Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack' arriving 27th February
A brand-new companion album is on the way, created to sit alongside Man on the Run, the upcoming documentary exploring Paul McCartney and Wings’ remarkable rise through the 1970s.

Today's listen: TWO VIRGINS by #johnlennon #yokoono I know it's a spontaneous freeform piece of experimental audio art inspired by the 1960s Fluxus movement, combining vocals, instruments & tape loops, but it's also probably the most indulgent, chaotic, rackety, annoying, two sides of vinyl ever

Tonight's late-night listen: HOMEWORK by Daft Punk. 25th anniversary edition is 3 hours long though. Anyway, my head is in 1990s nightclub euphoria for a while. #DaftPunk #1990s

It's Library Lovers' Day this week. Flashback to 2024 when I made a short video "10 Reasons to Love your Library" with AI designed graphics. Simple and to the point. I might roll this one out again for the library peeps. #LibraryLoversDay #libraries #library

Today's listen: MAYHEM by Lady GaGa. #LadyGaga hits back hard with a high energy dance pop album designed to erase our memories of the wretched JOKER 2 movie and the music that infested it. I think it worked. She's back in the game.

HIS GIRL FRIDAY: First saw this at a retro cinema years ago. It got more laughs from the audience than something modern. Still a fast, furious, smart screwball comedy. Energised by words, the actors delivering lines thick and fast. Making time to criticise ethics of journalism & corrupt politicians.

Today's listen: LIVING EYES (1981) by The #BeeGees. The trio tried to steer away from their disco image, but this album was a sales disappointment and is somewhat pedestrian, lacking the catchy pop dynamics of previous efforts. It has its fans and is by no means bad, just a step down. #NowListening

I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF / WEREWOLF IN A GIRL'S DORMITORY: 1950S juvenile delinquency is successfully added to the mix in IWaTW perfect for the teen Drive-in crowd. WIaGD delivers a far more complicated murder mystery than the title would suggest. From Italy, there are hints of giallo. #HorrorMovies

Today's listen: THE BEATLES ANTHOLOGY-SOUNDTRACK TO THE DISNEY+ SERIES (EPISODES 4 to 6) is one of 3 digital-only albums promoting the 2024 modified documentary series (orig from 1995) Tracks from 1964 to 67 really demonstrate their extraordinary musical progression. 36 songs. 95 mins #TheBeatles
February 6, 2026 at 7:23 AM
Today's listen: Beaucoups of Blues (1970) by #RingoStarr who flew to Nashville to record this Country album. Mostly songs of sadness, misery and heartache, it bombed. Sad Ringo didn't sell (just look at that cover), but I don't mind some of the tracks. Hell Ringo! Cheer up! (He would) #Beatles
February 5, 2026 at 10:18 AM
Late night listen: HIT ME HARD AND SOFT by #BillieEilish. I like Eilish but her songs are so soft and floaty and dreamlike. I'd really like to hear her go hard and belt out a heavy rock banger. Turn that whisper into a Wail. Fine album though WILDFLOWER won the Grammy for Song of the Year.
February 4, 2026 at 9:04 AM
Today's listen: continuing ALL THINGS MUST PASS (1970)(Super Deluxe disc 2. which is Sides 3,4,5,6 of original LP) by #GeorgeHarrison. Post-Beatles Harrison continues to deliver high quality studio tracks. All killer. No filler. I'm indifferent to the APPLE JAM. It's fine but not really necessary

Today's Listen: PIPES OF PEACE (1983) by #PaulMcCartney who put on his funkyboots for several tracks here, including two with Michael Jackson. PofP, a companion piece to previous TofW, is a step down from that album. Several songs fail to soar. Archive Collection with additional tracks holds no gold
February 3, 2026 at 9:59 AM
Today's listen: DOUBLE FANTASY by #JohnLennon #YokoOno. Lennon is unafraid to extol the virtues of fatherhood & domesticity. Yoko finds her punk mojo, delivering some of her strongest material to date. A joyous return to vinyl in 1980 but after Lennon's murder, a poignant piece to remember him by.

Late Night Listen: THE FLYING LIZARDS. I only knew this band from their one hit MONEY in 1979, a deconstruction of the foot stomping rocker. Equally weird renditions here and dub experimentations. Horrid opening track but most of it works. Exists in its own Twilight Zone between punk and new wave

Sunday listen: A MATTER OF TIME (2025) by Laufey. Laufey, from Iceland, draws on the classic jazz era for inspiration but is also influenced by classical symphony & modern pop. Her songs remind me, at times, of the cheeky, introspective lyrics of Lily Allen. A strange blend, enticing, fascinating
