My favourite piece from the OBJECTIVE exhibition at Hawthorn Arts Centre was OCULAR FLEUR, a multimedia video projection on a dome like screen #Melbourne #Arts

Today's Listen: HOME by Delaney & Bonnie. Debut album from the husband & wife duo. Released in 1969, it remains a very fresh sounding album of blues, soul, country and rock tracks. Band gets funky at times. Probably not well known today but D&B played with Clapton, Harrison, Allmans, many others

Yesterday's listen: LIVE JAM from the new POWER TO THE PEOPLE box set. Essentially Disc 3 live jam disc from SOME TIME IN NEW YORK CITY + additional live tracks from 71-72. Highlight for me was the acoustic version of IMAGINE at the Apollo Theatre which showed Lennon didn't need much to be amazing

The Golden Globe noms dropped during the week. I don't really care for this glitzy grift but it's always interesting to see what gets nominated in what category.
btw ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER is a 💩y movie.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: In Conversation with Monica Lim. Interesting session recently on Lim's practice as a musician & sound artist. Using AI technology to enhance, like an electromagnetic gadget fixed to her piano to create new sounds. Also hand-tracking gesture recognition software for sound FX

Bill Garner concerned that State Library of Victoria is cutting research librarians to divert funds to digital signage. I sometimes wish SLV wasn't a tourist attraction. Lots of odd events. Hordes of people streaming through. Protests on the front lawn. Mixed feelings about it. #Melbourne

AACTA noms out. We never really had that big crowd-pleasing must-see film or that quirky indie hit this year. So BEST FILM is anyone's guess. THE SURFER and BRING HER BACK both impressive and deserving but out there... way out there! #AustralianMovies #AACTA

ADOBE FIREFLY - testing out text-to-video features. A Green Mohawk punk girl, a gentleman tiger in a top hat, an androgynous android and a cute little pug strutting down the street.
First try with VEO 3.1 model. Good result. Like the way the dog goes out of focus as it nears the camera. #AI.

This Week's listen: BOLD AS LOVE by Jimi Hendrix. Deluxe set is basically AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE stereo & mono album + alt takes, live tracks. 3 1/2hr+ set is ideal morning motivation music. Found myself appreciating both stereo & mono versions & not able to pick one over the other. #JimiHendrix #1960s

I thought The Little Library at Melbourne Central was gone for good but they just moved it. This free book exchange is now behind the mid-level food court. There's room on those shelves for pre-loved books & magazines if you're able to donate. #Melbourne #CityOfLiterature

Weekend listen: ANTHOLOGY 4 by The Beatles. Additional collection commemorates 30 years since The Beatles Anthology doc/book/cd. New rarities & early takes sound remarkably crisp. Some grumbles from Beatles fans about tracks not included, but it is what it is and there's lots to enjoy here. #Beatles

Yesterday's listen: LISTEN TO WHAT THE MAN SAID (2001) 16 track tribute album. Various artists cover #PaulMcCartney 's solo work. Solid collection of covers. Nothing remarkable but interesting to hear interpretations of songs that usually don't get covered

New gadget alarm clock. Apparently it's going to emulate the colours of a natural sunrise and play bird sounds to gently wake me. If that fails, a second alarm, 15 mins later, is going to blast FM radio music in my ear. #gadgets #technology

Today's Listen: BLACK AND BLUE by The Rolling Stones. New remixed release of the 1976 album that seemed to split fans & critics. I like the funky sounds injected into some tracks, but I'll pass on the reggae. There's a super deluxe edition out there for the superfans. #RollingStones #1970sMusic

Today's listen: NEW YORK CITY (HOME JAM) from the new POWER TO THE PEOPLE boxed set. Lennon raw & acoustic, strums through many rock n roll favourites that he would have played with the Beatles in Hamburg or at The Cavern. Quite a few Buddy Holly covers. Some unreleased originals as well #JohnLennon
