I mean in theory you can have a low fidelity game that immerses you with its worldbuilding and aesthetic, I'd kind of prefer this honestly because soulless due to mistreatment of devs in 4K is still soulless due to mistreatment of devs
My game dev hot take: Immersion and fidelity ARE NOT THE SAME THING!
Immersion is about emotion and mental engagement. How wrapped up are you in the experience? Fidelity is just how realistic something looks/feels. The eternal quest for better fidelity won't ever "solve" immersion.
