UK writers: if you haven't yet responded to the government's AI consultation (& don't feel like giving away your copyright), the @alcs-uk.bsky.social have produced some really helpful advice ⤵️

Your rights are under threat from AI. It’s time to have your say!
The Government recently launched a consultation on AI and copyright. Now is the time to have your say and make sure that legislators hear the concerns of creators.

Every time you don't buy a book from Amazon, but use a good indie store who actually values the sale & treats you & your purchase with respect, the sun shines brighter, floofy puppies gambol in fresher grass, & Jeff Bezos's piles sting for just a biiiit longer.

Sounds GREAT to me.

Buy independent.

My new book is up for pre-order over at Earth Island Books. Just got my author copy and I'm chuffed to bits with it!
Will probably the last book from me this year as I want to focus all my energies on the live stuff. Got some crowd pleasers in it, this one!

We need, and should be able to expect better than this. AI and the flagrant disregard for copyright that Labour are proposing will decimate the creative industries, and destroy income streams. But not for the man leading the charge, who has vast investments in AI companies. Shame on them all.

Utterly and completely true! #ipswich has a thriving, vibrant and popular pub #poetry community. Come joins is xx
99% of U.K. poetry exists beyond social media.

This is especially true outside the big cities, at readings above pubs or in arts centres in provincial towns, where people attend and buy books through a pure love of the genre. These people are my readers.
I've got three readings in Feb...

Faversham Lit Fest on the 22nd, with Chris Horton and Mat Riches.

South Downs Poetry Fest in Chichester on the 26th. I'm the Guest Poet.

Cowden Pound on the 27th. (Queens Arms Pub). I'm the Guest Poet.

It would be great to see you there!
