Police received a report of a monkey on the loose near Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum at around 8:30 this morning. An hour later, the monkey spotted was on a nearby roof at Jogakuin Junior and Senior High School before it fled.

In September of this year, a 20-year-old man and four high school students aged between 16 and 18 were arrested on suspicion of theft for allegedly stealing five rare Pokémon cards, valued at approximately 1.8 million yen, from a trading card store in Hiroshima City.

A 60-year-old man has been indicted for causing death by injury for allegedly assaulting his elderly mother, who lived with him, at their home in Minami-ku, Hiroshima. According to investigators, the son stated that he "hit and kicked her when she didn't listen to him." #HiroshimaCrimeReport

A bear was sighted on a road that passes by the Haji Dam Family Campground in Akitakata at around 1am on November 16th by a passing driver.

There were around 15 groups of campers at the site at the time, but no incidents have been reported. The campsite has been closed.

Iwakuni seems to be bucking trend of increasing bear sightings nationwide. There had been only 60 sightings (including tracks) by the end of October, down more than 70% from the 230 reported in the same period last year. It is actually the lowest number in 5 years. #HiroshimaNews

On November 11th, a 55-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a man in a convenience store in Minami-ku, Hiroshima City. Police report he kicked his victim in the legs and dragged by the neck. #HiroshimaCrimeReport

It appears that a tourist visiting the popular autumn leaf viewing spot, Taishaku Gorge, was killed as a result of a rockfall while viewing the Onbashi arch, which is designated as a national natural monument.

The man was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Miyoshi, but later died.

One news item we missed... On September 24, a woman reportedly stabbed herself to death on Hiroshima Peace Boulevard. The woman was found by a passerby, lying on the ground with a knife stuck in her chest. Has anyone seen any updates on this shocking incident?
