Peasants threaten the Töß convent outside Winterthur. The clever diplomacy of the city council and the Töß nuns manages to steer the angry crowd into getting drunk instead. The peasants return home the next morning.

Peasants attack Adersleben Convent near Wegeleben, where they allegedly beat & torture the nuns until they hand over the keys and church property. Peasants take the monstrance, chalices, church furnishings, and supplies, and drive away livestock.

The Count Palatine breaks into Bruchrain with 1,800 cavalry and 4,500 foot soldiers. He attacks Malsch, the main base of the uprising, and burns it down. All the villages are plundered and their herds taken.

@germanpeasantswar.bsky.social Not to steal your thunder, but #OTD in 16 May 1525 a deal was struck for occupying peasant bands to surrender #Saverne (Zabern). Apparently one of the peasants lipped off about Luther. It did not go well. And estimated 18K were killed.
