Activist, organizes with Indivisible. Support universal health care and more democracy. Also gardener, retired primary care doctor, former CEO of a union healthcenter.
Which do we prefer- a good homecare program for seniors and disabled or the ravages of ICE?
The ICE budget is about $80 billion a year. Gruber estimates we could provide a universal home care program that’s very reasonable for about $40 billion a year. paulkrugman.substack.com/p/talking-ag...

Don't be fooled by different names—all these voter suppression bills have the same goal: block millions of eligible Americans from voting.

It's a coordinated attack on our democracy while they ignore real problems.

The SAVE Act is a voter suppression bill, masquerading as “fraud prevention.”

The GOP is using this bill as a Trojan horse to restrict voting rights and maintain their hold on power.

Call your electeds STOP the "SAVE ACT".
The SAVE Act is Trump’s power grab in legislative garb.
The bill would require Americans to produce a passport or a birth certificate to register and thus to vote. Brennan Center research shows that 21 million people lack ready access to these documents.

One of the voter suppression moves by MAGA that we need to oppose.
BREAKING: The House GOP is pushing MULTIPLE voter suppression bills through Congress—all designed to block millions of American citizens from voting. This isn't about security; it's about silencing voices.

Obviously designed to limit care:
In 2024, Medicare Advantage insurers denied 4.1 million of the 53 million prior authorization requests- 7.7%. Just 11.5% of all denials were appealed , but in the vast majority of those cases, (80.7%) the initial denial was overturned, similar to previous years.

Just in the past few months in Minnesota, there have been as many ICE employees arrested for sex trafficking as there's been people executed by ICE agents
Bloomington police announce arrests in sex trafficking bust: "Rashad Johnson out of Maple Grove. This is the most disturbing arrest that we've had here. He is a backgrounder for ICE, Homeland Security, and federal agencies."

Four corporations (Amazon, Alphabet/Google, Meta/Facebook, and Tesla) collectively made $315 billion in U.S. profits in 2025, according to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy. They paid 4.9% of that in federal corporate income taxes. Tesla paid exactly zero. (Thx@pattivasquez.bsky.social)

Days after TrumpRx launched, drug-pricing watchers noted a significant number of prescription medications offered through the direct-to-consumer platform were already available through cheaper generic competitors. And remember purchases made via Trump Rx do NOT count towards insurance deductables.

Billionaires Income Tax. Would require the ultra wealthy to pay a minimum 23.8% tax rate on regular earnings and unrealized capital gains. This affects only the top 0.01%. It would raise about $557 billion over the next decade and prevent shell companies and estate tricks. (Patriotic Millionaires)

Yes ! and they have added to funds in Social Security and Medicare even when they have no prospect of ever benefiting from either !
Yes, we already knew the lie was a lie. But good to have documentation - from Cato Institute, no less - when others come at us with the lie.
Heads are going to explode 💥

Cato Institute just nuked the lie. Immigrants have cut U.S. deficits by $14.5 TRILLION since 1994, slashing the national debt by a third.

All that “immigrants are bleeding us dry” noise? Absolute bullshit.
