The subject association for all teachers of geography. We support the study and enjoyment of geography in primary and secondary schools.
In the recent article on GA Blog, Jon Cannell explains that storytelling is a powerful way to teach geography because it engages pupils and connects learning to familiar places and experiences.

I am really looking forward to the @geographicalassoc.bsky.social conference.

My Y9 classes have been using sustainability stools to decide how sustainable it is to modernise salt mining in Ethiopia. I'll be sharing how I have used these throughout our curriculum in my session.

I’m really keen to have these difficult conversations as part of my ‘Geography makes a Difference’ theme. How can growing up in poverty put obstacles in the way of students studying geography? How can studying geography enrich these students’ lives? @geographicalassoc.bsky.social
My experience of working in various fields is that people are perfectly happy to do “diversity and inclusion” which involves minorities but really struggle to get to grips with how being poor affects things. Acknowledging the existence of poverty seems to make most middle class people uncomfortable.
The “diversity” I bring to my work is less about being brown than it is about having grown up poor. Which had a much bigger negative impact on me.

Excellent work here from @geographicalassoc.bsky.social drawing together the lessons from the Ofsted subject reports into geography. A lot here for teachers and leaders to take away and reflect on.
