Kitchen Listening #41. Odetta. I love the folk and blues music of Odetta. This set was about 4 hours from 4 albums from my collection including a live one. She was an amazing performer and I got to see her several times in the late 60's and early 70's.

Kitchen Listening #40. Blue Break Beats: 50 of the Best. An amazing collection of tracks from various Blue Note jazz albums from over the years. This set runs for about 5 hours and I always enjoy every moment. One of my favorite box sets. So many great selections.

Book Shelf #182. St Marks Is Dead: The Many Lives of America's Hippest Street by Ada Calhoun, 2015. An amazing cultural history of a street in NY's East Village. I really liked the oral history aspect of the book. Very entertaining and socially relevant. Finished it last night. #books #booksky #NYC

Kitchen Listening #35. Eric Clapton albums from the early 70s made for a wonderful afternoon today while getting some painting done. I saw him perform twice. Derek & The Dominoes in 1970 and solo in 1974. Never saw Cream... damn it.

Book Shelf #180. Lynch on Lynch by David Lynch, 1997. Read this amazing film memoir recently after his passing. I saw all of his movies. Got his albums too. It was interesting to read what he had to say about his films over the years.

Veterans Day began as Armistice Day, honoring the end of World War I—then it was changed to honor ALL who served.

Now Trump wants to rename it. Reframe it. Twist it into a tribute to conquest.

Veterans don’t need rewritten history. They need respect—and the benefits they earned.

Film Favorites. Random Pick #44. The Last Detail, 1973. This movie was released about a week or so before I got out of the Navy. I saw it shortly after and had read the novel a couple of years earlier. Liked Jack Nicholson movies during those years.

Book Shelf #178. Crime Mystery Favorites. The Last Detective by Peter Lovesey, 1991. I just finished this novel today and gave it 5 stars on Goodreads. This was my first book by this author and I'm looking forward to reading many more in this series.
