The Gundam novels are a great way to really dive more into the politics and mindset of the characters, more so than the anime ever could. For example, you learn about Amuro’s BDSM fetish caused by his lack of maternal figure
...Self-sufficiency? ..Independence? He had an interest in machines, but he didn't think he had it in him to patiently develop tools. At Amuro's young age, a boy's dreams didn't convert into reality, and he hadn't matured to the point where he was setting goals for his life. I must have a grudge against women in general...since I was the child of a mother like that... Amuro was able to acquire such an audacious understanding of himself after learning words like "mother complex," and as he masturbated he started to find that he was aroused by not only normal pornography but BDSM as well. I want to reject female genitalia...even though I like looking at them so much. He was even able to come up with the theory that his desire to enjoy the erotic, when combined with the urge to forget such impulses, resulted in a new desire to destroy women's bodies. However, he was also concerned it might be a dangerous sign that a regular naked woman wasn't enough to sexually arouse him. This was why he absolutely did not want Fraw Bow, a healthy and wholesome girl, to catch wind of his fetishes. So, he remained very aware that he needed to keep presenting himself as a normal boy to her. However, he hadn't figured out the important question of how exactly he was supposed to do that, which only made him more frustrated.

The tragedy of modernity lies in the increasingly sophisticated structure of society, which now invents ideologies and manipulates scientific data to perpetuate its class system. As the Space Age advanced, its reliance on a scientific-technological foundation intensified, spawning a new breed of politician-scientists. Their specialized biases and narrow perspectives further contributed to political turmoil. Yet, humanity still struggles to find an ideology to sublate these elements.

When I look at the kiss at the end of the series, I’m not thinking “wow, so this is the endgame ship,” but rather that the point of the scene is that it’s the first time Shuji sees humanity, when he embraces love instead of obsession, the Newtype ideal of being connected to one another in harmony

There’s a long, 30+ page interview between Hideaki Anno and Yoshiyuki Tomino theoretically about Char’s Counterattack that goes off the rails into so many places. It’s mainly either Anno gushing about how much he loves Gundam to a self critical Tomino, or Tomino going off about wild stuff like this
Men were responsible for it, but to what extent did that make women happier? Even if they were able to wear more beautiful clothes, or buy up acres and acres of farmland, those aren't things they'd be happy or unhappy about. The thing that they'd be thinking about was how living in the middle of 200,000 square feet of land would slightly lessen the chances of other men targeting them. So men take women's ability to bear children for granted, especially when it comes to modern society, but I think the male dominance of feudal society was terrible, enforcing the rights of a patriarchal society, where the man was free to divorce the woman if she couldn't produce an heir due to infertility or something. The reason the men wouldn't give up any ground to the women, as they continued to enforce these rights, was because they were thinking, "It can't be helped, someone has to be the one to give birth," and this continued on, even through the three hundred years of the Tokugawa period. What was the point of all of that? If anything, I think that the fact that men torment women as a part of everyday life shows that the power dynamics tied to our issues as an animal species can never be overcome, and even though the women can be forced to submit through brute strength, what we see is just a reaction on their part; it doesn't fundamentally threaten their position of sovereignty. Because they go, "We're the ones giving birth," and after they do, when it comes time to feed the babies, it's "We're the ones who are feeding them." Like I see the signs of that during S&M play. Otherwise the woman wouldn't be going "Aah! Aah! Aah!" as much as she does. Because ultimately, you would resist when you really were being degraded or your life was in danger. For the times when things aren't going that far, if you asked me what makes S&M possible, I'd say it's because of an unshakeable belief that "their sovereignty will absolutely not be threatened." Otherwise she wouldn't spread her legs that wide. That's why men aren't able to go that far, you see. "Mistress, please let me eat your shit." Think about saying that, that's about as far as you can go in terms of being humiliated. In other words, it's not the kind of thing you can do for pleasure. The guarantee of unshakable sovereignty is what makes S&M possible. In other words, it's because you're there in the flesh. If you weren't, the other person would never allow you to do those kinds of risky acts, even as part of adult work. If you were really vulnerable, you'd never say, "I'm selling this video so I can get through the year." The truth is that I understand it very well. There's parts I don't understand, but l've thought about why everyone does that sort of thing. So, I have confidence about this. Things like standing in front of the camera saying "That's good," getting tied up, saying "You're enjoying this too, aren't you?" .....Sorry. I ended up talking about something completely different. These sorts of things aren't off the record, not at all. It's not like it's going to harm my reputation, as far as tone is concerned. Anno: Yeah.

Not quite how I expected it to play out but this one prediction did come true! Someone even pointed out that Machu's toenails are painted red in the epilogue; you can see her painting them in the ED.

Regardless of how you see their relationship, they are living together!

That's the only thing he says to him: he explains his plan on how to destroy Solomon, only to let Solomon fall instead. This small element of the writing, present in the prologue, wouldn't have been relevant considering Kycilia's own plan without Challia discovering Char's. (2/2)

Challia attacking Char was fated and foreshadowed when this happened. The trick is that Char didn't tell his intentions to Challia, which was already a betrayal in itself. This HAD to be answered in the rest of the show. (1/2)
