For the map sequence, we wanted to try something a bit different from the standard roguelite branching paths. We think the result perfectly captures the game’s cheeky, cheating vibe.

Getting the core poker part to be fun took a few iterations during prototyping. The cheating part was super fun from day one, but the poker part felt a bit meh. It wasn’t until I made the sum of the cards your defense that it clicked; suddenly, the poker aspect offered a lot of interesting decisions
