Game Goblin is here to talk about and share all the cool things about video games and Magic: The Gathering.
On this day way back in 1990, we got what many consider to be the best Mario game ever made, Super Mario Bros. 3!

Can't lie, the game is a juggernaut of content, technical prowess, and charm. So much damn charm.

What's your favourite world from Super Mario Bros. 3?

Just added Dragon Quest VII Reimagined to the pile of Series X games, so figured it was time to remind people that physical games are still alive and kicking.

No Game Pass needed, no fees, just insert disc, install, play. The way it should be.

Way back in 1997, no one was ready for how Mario Kart 64 was gonna elevate the kart racing genre when it debuted on this day.

Even now, it still holds up as a titan of the racing genre, just as in demand now as it was 29 years ago.

Dusting off Etali tonight after more than a year since I played it (whoops), and the first thing I steal when I attack...My opponents banned Mana Crypt.

Didn't even feel bad for it.

Sometimes playing your opponents cards make everything work out in the end. I recommend it!

With the weekend closing, what did you spend your downtime playing?

Me? Been slowly working on replaying all Castlevanias on PS4. Going through in release order, too. Currently playing the best entry, Super Castlevania IV right now. Should finish tonight, and start Bloodlines!

This may seem like a random map, but it signifies Game Goblin's reach, as I have now officially sold games in 10 different countries outside of Canada.

Today we confirmed a sale in Mexico, adding it to our list of world domination with cheap video games. 10 down, 185 to go!

Top 4 Friday: Black Characters In Gaming

With it being Black History Month, figured it was a good time to shine the spotlight on my favourites.

Barret is the only good thing about VII, Isaac is a G, Three Dog gives the wasteland life, and Demoman threatened me to include him.

The Paper Mario franchise turns 25 today!

For a series that has been around for a quarter century, it's a shame that it's only got 2 iconic games. The N64 original, and most people's fav, The Thousand-Year Door.

Maybe one day they'll return to the RPG roots on the franchise.

Anyone remember Nintendo Power?

What about their Advance line?
Only consisting of 4 issues, this first free issue got me so hyped for the GBA. I own almost every game mentioned in this issue, and love most of them.

I still need to seek out issues 2-4, though.

What's the best and worst part about having a Magic deck?

Upgrading it, of course! It's the best because look at all the goodies you're adding to it! It's also the worst because what do you take out?! Everything has a place already!

This is a constant struggle.

First new deck of 2026 is done and ready to go!

Built a new Ayara for a friend who loves just sitting back, and building an army while the table is drained. Less zombie focus, more token spamming. It won It's first game tonight, too!

New month, new pick-ups post!

14 games, not too bad. Pumpkin Jack will be for the spooky season, and I will be running through the klassic Mortal Kombat games soon enough.

What goods did you gobs get last month?

Well finally got to try Twilight Inscription, and gotta say, it's a lot simpler, but also just as diverse in how you expand your empire. Explore, research tech, grow your population, or prepare for war.

Through it all, The Emirates Of Hacan remain rulers of the galaxy.

Top 4 Friday: Beat 'Em Ups!

Last weekend, had the pleasure of going to an arcade, and being able to play The Simpsons, and X-Men got me in a real mood for Beat 'Em Ups, so tell your top picks!

Some of you will say Streets Of Rage 2 is better, but 1 has better music, so it wins!

The almighty Duke Nukem 3D made it's debut 30 years ago today. Even to this day, remains one of the top 10 greatest FPS's ever made.

It's always the right time to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and be all out of gum. Right, Duke?

You know what's bullshit?

Castlevania: Dominus Collection isn't on the PS4. Every other Castlevania remaster is on the PS4, including Requiem being an exclusive! If the Switch can run it, there's no excuse for this being a PS5 disc! Justice for PS4 owners!

It's finally arrived!

This is a spin-off of the galaxy's greatest board game, Twilight Imperium, however it's only 1.5-2 hours long, instead of 10.

Hoping you try it out this weekend with my playgroup, and hope it lives up to the hype of the board game.

Have you tried this?

Casual reminder to always check your basics.

This is from the set Portal: Three Kingdom, a failure of a set at the time that wasn't appreciated until YEARS after. So cards from it are sometimes worth a nice chunk. This basic Mountain?

$34! Thirty-Four dollars! For a Mountain!

Today was a real busy day, but that's because I spent hours in an arcade today. Didn't have time to run another 20+ minute run, so third place for a first try?

Yeah, I still got it.

Tetris, Daytona, VF2, UMK3, Elevator Action, Addams Family pinball, all played today. Glorious.
January 25, 2026 at 5:14 AM
Top 4 Friday: MMOs!

With the weather being cold, and people wanting to socialize, that's where MMO's come in! Stay home, play with thousands of people, everybody wins.

What are your top 4 MMOs?

WOTLK was simply put, the greatest time in the entire genre, you had to be there.
January 23, 2026 at 3:26 PM
What might be the most deserved M-rated game on the Wii, is now old enough to play with itself. How fitting!

No More Heroes turns 18 today, and outside of it's sequels, there's still nothing quite as juvenile, hilarious, yet wrapped up in such tight action as this game.
January 23, 2026 at 12:14 AM
What a lot people consider the greatest Survival Horror game ever made, Resident Evil 2 made it's original PlayStation debut back in 1998 today!

Fortunately it later got a superior N64 port a year later with proper controls.
January 22, 2026 at 2:20 AM
So does anyone else have an obsession where they want to buy every game for a non-gaming IP?

Yeah, anything and everything RoboCop, I buy. Still missing a few EU exclusives, but one day I'll finish my little RoboCop collection here.
January 21, 2026 at 1:59 AM
Why did anyone think making Rated R movies into children's games was a good idea?

Oh, everyone who kept buying them. Even though they were generally terrible.
January 19, 2026 at 4:29 AM
The weekend is in full swing tonight, so what are you spending it playing?

I'm working on playing through all the classic Castlevanias, and currently grinding through Dracula's Curse right now.

If you've watched the Castlevania anime, this is the game it's based on!
