RIP Claudia Cardinale. Much like Robert Redford, she was a rare case of a beautiful performer with a filmography full of bangers who did NOT become right-wing later in life. Here she is punching fascist Brigitte Bardot in the face in Les Pétroleuses (1971).

Installed Zorin two days ago to run alongside the Windows 11 bloat, and it's really impressive. Some minor glitches which were easily solved and now going full throttle. Thank you @zorinos.bsky.social for such a nice distro.
🎉 Zorin OS 18 is here, and it's a big upgrade!

Nice timing since Windows 10 just hit end-of-life this week, leaving 240 million PCs behind. Instead of buying new hardware or forcing Windows 11, Zorin OS like most distros lets you keep your existing computer running for years.

There is a current artists exodus from X because its new image editing tool lets users AI-edit any images on the spot without the original artist consent. We really need a new software that makes digital artwork not editable.
X's Newly Rolled Out AI Image Edit Feature Receives Backlash from Users
X rolled out a new feature that lets users alter any image via AI prompts, igniting backlash among users, particularly artists, who fear their work can be misused, misrepresented, and altered without ...

Beware of the Icelandic Yule Cat.
In Icelandic folklore Jólakötturinn, the Yule Cat, comes to eat those who do not wear their new clothes for Christmas. In this image, you can see somebody did not put on their new Christmas sweater. Or perhaps even more unfortunately, no one got them one!

Aside from the fact that AI glasses need to be heavily regulated in public spaces, I resent the lack of imagination in the design. They went for the drab Woody Allen look instead of taking a cue from scifi visors, which would have been way cooler.

I think we're really only beginning to grapple with the fact that many (most?) people just don't read anymore. I understand why but I'm convinced that letting our brains run on podcasts, short-form video content and WhatsApp memes is going to be an absolute disaster for society

Now that I found out that James Caan was a keen Trump supporter and had close connection with Mafia mobsters, I'm quite enjoying the scene when Kathy Bates breaks his ankles with a mallet. Rob Reiner was making a point.

Deceptively niche as it may seem, the literary poster occupies a special place at the intersection of American art history and literature.

One of the most maddening aspects of living in Europe is the fact that I can get online and buy stuff from China without any issue, but when trying to buy specific items from countries within the EU this is often impossible as they will sell only statewide (and if yes the p&p are prohibitive).

Visiting the US is now akin to being profiled for a homicide case. Anyone considering visiting should really consider the implication.
This is the full list of info the US is proposing to require from applicants for an ESTA (electronic travel authorisation) to secure visa-free travel to America. This would apply to every UK holidaymaker, conference attendee or businessperson. public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2025-22461.pdf
