Pop Culture Happy Hour is my Morning Podcast Friend and it’s how I start my day on a positive note, every day, for more than a decade. Its continued existence is a gift.
The biggest responsibility I feel is that I know for somebody out there, our show is their Nighttime Podcast Friend that they play every night while they’re falling asleep to keep their minds from spinning, the way several different shows have been for me.

Anxiety thrives in silent contemplation.

We watched Notting Hill (with a charming bumbling Hugh Grant and an otherworldly Julia Roberts) last night for the first time, and are many things to still love about the film

but boy that soundtrack has aged like milk

Some big news happening for public media in Missouri.

It's important reporting like this story that makes this job worth it.
A monumental sculpture of a massive tush — a big butt, a voluptuous derriere — appeared on the south lawn of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art over the weekend.

The 8-foot-tall snow carving has caused quite a lot of scuttlebutt around town.

It’s a real blizzard out there, Kansas City. Hope everyone is staying safe.

Here’s our latest story. We’ll update with more information as it comes out.
Blizzard and winter storm warnings in effect as Kansas City metro braces for heavy snow

The blizzard has hit Kansas City, and I can’t see further than a hundred feet out my window. Hearing that wind and the occasional thunder is quite a trick too.

It’s no joke — don’t be driving if you don’t absolutely need to.

So we are curating a Bluesky list of Missouri, Kansas and Kansas City news sources and journalists that we trust and rely on — from KCUR, our partners and collaborators, and more.

We'll keep updating this list as more orgs join.
