The last months were though, mentally and physically I struggled. And that resulted in very little to no energy or courage to draw and paint.
Today was the first day I felt a little spark in energy again, so I grabbed it and could finally finish this painting. And I'm so happy I did.

I got kinda stuck on my previous painting, so instead of figuring out what I wanna do with it, I just decided to start with a new one. Really looking forward to working on this one, since I absolutely love the reference pic I'm using... TBC

Based on an awesome reference pic from a very talented photographer, I couldn't do anything but follow along with the play of light and shadow. And it was a blast 🤭

Really wanted to play around with some high contrast references and this is the first result... And really happy with it 🤭
Next project will also be high contrast but completely different from this one... Stay tuned! 🙂‍↕️

Okay, this was fun. Yes, painting a lovely sunkissed 🍑 is fun, but experimenting with a new technique too! This was mainly painted with a palletknive and a very large brush, no way to get lost in details.
And a big thank you for an awesome reference picture to the model 🤭

Doing a quick gesso colorprep on my next project... Going to the beach with this one 🤭

Thanks @kalos-kagathos-kam.bsky.social for the awesome reference pic! Finding more confidence in painting ala prima and on a smaller canvas.

Time to get back into "alla prima", finished this one in about 3.5h, oil on canvas. Forced myself to not get lost in details, but had fun adding some in the end 🤭

Finally found some time to prep for some 'alla prima' excersizes. Trying out a silver basecoat ✨
I really need to find a way to get more painting time in my schedule 🤭🫣

After a few very busy weeks I found some time to finish my "golden boy" ✨

The gold backdrop is fun, but was also a huge challenge to get the tones of shadows and highlights strong enough.

My next painting was the biggest one yet: 75x115cm
Based on a picture made by @currents_px (insta) of the handsome @ereborkhin (insta), and with a nice added new challenge: water 🤭

I'm almost done with reposting my instapost, so next post will be my actual latest work 🤭

After the first 2 try-outs, I decided to experiment with the "alla prima" painting method. Here you finish a painting or study in one sitting, working wet in wet paint. These little paintings are made in about 2 hours work each.

For my second try-out, I tried to apply what I've learned, yet began looking for my own style and flow. Pretty happy with the result :)

Or my first try I followed a course on Domestika, to learn some of the basics. Naturally I choose a hyperrealistic style to set the bar way to high from the start 🤣
Had to lower it pretty fast and give me room to learn and grow. Still happy with the result.

But I've always been a creative person, so I needed a new outlet. And I remembered I tried oil painting when I was 14 years old or so, and decided to give this another go. Feel free to join me on my new artistic journey :)

A few months back I made a huge decision to leave behind 20 years of working in the graphic and motion design industry. The way the industry was evolving, and the way AI was creeping in just didn't feel wright to me. So I made a huge career change.
