Really enjoying the #dipaday in October campaign run by @sascampaigns.bsky.social for a safer environment in our seas, rivers and waterways, this involves a daily dip be it ocean, river, waterway, plunge pool or even a cold shower!! #ocean #cornwall

My favorite here is Grass of Parnasus, white veined flower, also showing blue Harebells, pink Cranesbill, delicate Ivy leaved Bellflower, Coral Necklace over a lichen covered rock Group of Orchids all favorites. Pinks, whites, reddish pink in a variety of settings, cliff tops, big, dune and grassland. My winner! Dactylorhiza x mixtum. The cross between Common Spotted and Frog orchid, a delicate and tiny pinkish orchid.

My local dune system was so dry I didn’t think I would find anything for #Wildflowerhour but here is Common Centaury and those I did find were mostly really dried up. These being the best. I also spotted some Autumn Ladies Tresses too so a good walk was had!

Just back home from a road trip in Ireland lovely to see Fragrant and Frog flowering orchids this late on! Plus Ladies Tresses. Such beauty among majestic coasts, mountains, loughs, bogs,fields and also in the people!

Marsh Fragrant? And Frog orchid. The Fragrant orchid smelt strongly of garden pinks. Intoxicating! Dark Red Helleborine and I think Broad Leaved Helleborine flowering in the gullies of limestone on the Burren Autumn and Irish Ladies Tresses. White flowering beauties

Holidaying around Ireland. Today at the loughs of Mayo in search of Irish Ladies Tresses. For #wildflowerhour found a type of hoverfly on sneezewort and an insect on a lesser water plantain. Grass of Parnasus pic for its beauty too.

#swift in a plant pot. Today I was working in a cottage in Newlyn and heard fluttering in the conservatory. I found this plant pot and a trapped swift inside that couldn’t escape. I took the pot onto the balcony and eventually the swift dropped down and flew off. All is ok 👍 #cornwallbirds #birding

Walked alongside the Marazion Marshes this early eve & heard Cetti’s & Reed Warbler, saw Linnets, Dunnocks, Herons and Egrets. Here is St Michaels Mount with #pyramidorchid scattered across the Marazion dunes, the garden escape Erigeron glauca has really naturalised along this stretch as well.

I’ve had 3 walks for #NewYearPlantHunt in West Cornwall & found a grand total of 2 different flowering plants!! (Gorse aplenty and 3 Daisies!) I did choose a Carn & 2 extreme coastal locations in Boat Cove, Pendeen and Cape Cornwall. @bsbibotany.bsky.social enjoyed the hunting and stunning views!
