Today we're dreaming of a holiday in Cornwall with this hand-painted map from 1576!

The map from our beautiful atlas was based on a survey undertaken by the cartographer Christopher Saxton.

Keeping up the #CharlesWoolfCollection word association and linking in to #EYAHumour month, here's a photo of the beach at Porth Joke, near Newquay in 1967. We expect it probably isn't quite as empty as this today! 🏖️

Today is #InternationalWolfDay so what better time to showcase the #CharlesWoolfCollection!

This image is of a troop of Wolf Cub scouts in a parade in Newquay in 1957.

Although it's not an actual wolf, we think this qualifies 😉

Today we've been looking at handwritten compositions in the #ElmhirstCollection that were gifted to Leonard and Dorothy Elmhirst by a composition class in 1944.

They are by several students and written for a variety of instruments. Now we just need a string trio to play this piece!

I recently saw a show of rehearsed readings of material from Nick Darke’s archive collection. The performance was fascinating and left me thinking about archives & the creative process - and wondering how much of my own workings-out I would want to keep in the long run, and to share with others.
