Sometimes the most useful insights come from what doesn’t work. We tested a dual PRR stack: LORE blocked Ralstonia, while FLS2xl could sense Ca. Liberibacter flg22 but didn’t stop infection. Congrats to @jerrytli.bsky.social and all co-authors! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Can you fool a plant into mis-identifying a beneficial symbiont? Yes you can! Check out our new paper where we use comparative transcriptomics to identify bi-functional signalling hubs controlling pathogenesis and mutualism in Eucalyptus. dx.doi.org/10.1111/ppl....
Eucalyptus grandis MYB‐Like and RAN‐Like Zinc Finger Proteins Display Dual Roles in Regulating Plant Immunity and Symbiosis Pathways
Plant roots live in constant contact with diverse microbes in the soil. Plant fitness, therefore, relies on signaling pathways that mount an effective immune response against pathogens while fosterin...

It was such a great time a couple weeks ago getting to go to Gulaga Gold Truffles and digging for these amazing fungi as part of the NSW Fungi Feastival!

@westsyduhie.bsky.social Romika Shrestha is monitoring uptake of radioactive Phosphorus in pine colonised by different strains of an ectomycorrhizal fungus. Based on the localisation (aqua-yellow coloration), the different strains have different abilities to move this nutrient into their hosts

I sometimes smile when automatic Alt Text tries to understand microscopy images. Today it said described this as "a collage of blue and red spots"...or it could be a viability stain of a transgenic root 😆
