Exploring Oracle Exascale: Architecture, Storage Changes, and Why It Matters
I’m quite familiar with Exadata platforms, having been lucky enough to work on several projects over the past five years helping customers migrate their on-premises database workloads to the cloud. Most of these have been to Exadata Cloud at Customer (ExaDB-C@C) and Exadata on Dedicated Infrastructure (previously ExaCS, now ExaDB-D). When I first heard about Exascale (Oracle Exadata Database Service on Exascale Infrastructure…

A year ago, I explored vector search in Oracle 23ai using external models. Now, it's all happening inside the database.

ONNX + OML4Py + Oracle 23ai = pure magic (with SQL).

Running Hugging Face models inside Oracle 23ai with ONNX and OML4Py
About a year ago, I published a blog post on vector search in Oracle 23ai. At that time, I wasn’t aware of the ONNX format or how it could be used to bring machine learning models into the database. That realization came later, and ever since, I’ve been thinking: "I need to write a follow-up post to cover this!" Well... the time has finally come.

ODCC: The missing piece in your Oracle CPU scaling strategy
Over the past few months, I’ve been working with Oracle Dynamic Scaling (ODyS) and Oracle Dynamic CPU Count (ODCC) in a customer environment on EXADB-D X9M and X11. These two tools are game changers if you want to allocate only the resources you really need and, more importantly, save some money. ODyS takes care of scaling OCPUs/ECPUs up or down based on actual demand, so your…

Kill that session! how many times have we, DBAs, had to do that manually?

No more manual KILL: Oracle 23ai handles blocking with Priority Transactions
If you are a DBA you’ve probably received an urgent call time to time from someone saying my applications is blocked, the query is not ending or you are seeing in the monitoring that blocking session counts is increasing overtime and you are looking for what is going on in the database Good news in 23ai! this is probably going to change (hopefully!)

My DGPDB switchover demo failed - live.
And honestly? I’m glad it did.

Hot Online Patching in Oracle: Benefits and Pitfalls
If you need to patch your database, you want to do it easily, right? why complicate it? As a DBA, I have a choice to avoid interrupting the availability of the database instance. So, why bother stopping the database if you can do something online? In this blog, I want to talk about hot online patching. It is not about RAC rolling patches.
