It’s ball season!

Add a ball to ponds before freezing temps hit.

The gentle movement keeps the hole ice-free, allows air exchange and provides a drink for thirsty wildlife.

Pond already frozen? Use a hot pan to gently melt a hole in the ice, but be careful not to burn yourself!

Have you ever seen one of these before? It’s a Common Water Measurer!

They make look fragile, but they are ferocious hunters and use the vibrations on the top of the water to locate their prey, very cool!

Even though many of our species are less active during the colder months, your sightings still matter!

Submitting records through our free Dragon Finder App helps us understand how UK species are faring & whether climate change is affecting their behaviour & survival.

Our Peterborough #GreenTalent team have been using coppiced willow to create a dead hedge.

This not only helps the pond warm up to a more favourable temperature for #amphibians but also creates a new habitat for so many small animals and invertebrates.

Our #LondonBlueChain team visited a pond at Chinbrook Meadows to help with some vital restoration work!

Despite less-than-ideal weather conditions, the team managed to get a lot done with the help of some wonderful volunteers and the local team at Glendale Services UK.

We’ve had another incredible year for our Toads on Roads project!

An amazing 156,227 toads were safely helped across roads, beating our 2024 record of 152,717!

280 patrols returned data this year, surpassing last season’s 247 patrols.

A huge thank you to our dedicated toad patrollers.

We're asking for one thing that will provide clarity to an industry that's faced constant delays. Legislation is needed to give the #horticulture industry a timeline for phasing out #peat.

With the variable weather we’re having, some amphibians may be seen moving around in gardens or local greenspaces to forage.

This is completely normal as our amphibians go into brumation during the cooler months.

Our #GreenTalent team would like to celebrate some of the habitats they have completed this year.

In total they have improved & created 28 #wildlife habitats including pond restorations, log piles, dead hedges, basking banks & egg-laying heaps at sites across Peterborough.

We’ve been sent this incredible photo from one of our Froglife Friends & pond creator, Chris Barks.

Taken at Shire Brook Nature Reserve in Sheffield, the fiery autumn colours reflected in the pond look absolutely stunning.

A perfect reminder of how beautiful our ponds can be at this time of year

#ScottishGreenPathways worked with students at #GlasgowKelvinCollege to create these wonderful signs for the new wildlife pond there.

We can’t wait to see them in place in 2026!

Our #GreenTalent team visited the Wildlife Trust’s Dogsthorpe Star Pit (https://tinyurl.com/6smeyme2) to admire the ponds & other habitats.

We are keen to know whether there have been any surveys for #amphibians & #reptiles here.

Star Pit could be an integral part of a wildlife corridor.
