Just Enough Light for the Next Step
If we could see all the struggles ahead, we might never set out. Trust me: I joined the Legionaries of Christ seven years before the truth came out.

The Montana Senate is preparing a bill that will make martyrs of the confessional if passed. The seal of the confession is absolute and we will go to prison rather than reveal what was said under the seal.

As you may know, I am recording a podcast reading all the documents of Vatican II in 2025. After recording part of it on the liturgy, I had a day of retreat and it made me reflect on how the liturgy is a foretaste of eternity. Here it is: frmatthewlc.com/blog/2025/01...
The Liturgy: Foretaste of Eternity - Fr. Matthew P. Schneider, LC
Every week or every day, we attend Mass or Divine Liturgy, and it is largely the same. The Eucharistic prayer is just one of a few options, a lot of other prayers like the introductory and Communion r...

In recent months, I have had some of my most profound experiences in prayer. Some of these are leading to deeper reflections on Christian life which I can share. Here is the first such reflection on two ways to view eternity. www.plough.com/en/topics/fa...
Two Ways to Look to Eternity
Life is short, and there’s so much good work to do. Does knowing Jesus has saved you change that?

t appears my car will be a write-off after an accident this week (I thought repairs would 1/2 what they are).

Money is tight in my local community. If you want to help out, here's a link to donate (add "car" in the comments to specify it for this). secure.acceptiva.com?cst=937bf2

I finished writing my Christmas cards today while I was watching football.

It will be good to have these out in time so all the US ones at least arrive early.

I just used @sky-follower-bridge.dev to follow 500+ from Twitter.

The same username is pretty accurate, but the same display name is not so much so, especially for accounts that have common names or only list their first name.

For the #ImmaculateConception, my community was having a concelebration at the school several priests work at. We were asked to bring a matching concelebration vestment from the house.

What do I bring? A violet vestment. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Fortunately, someone else brought an extra white.

Today is a Holy Day of Obligation for many in the US, but individual dioceses have different policies. Many have dispensed it.

I recommend you search "[name of your dioceses] Immaculate Conception holy day of obligation."

I found this locally: www.dsj.org/dispensation...

You are Catholic because you are baptized. But these are generally examples of bad Catholics.

(How long until they block me here too.)
You can be Catholic and have had abortions.
You can be Catholic and use birth control.
You can be Catholic and build your family with IVF.
You can be Catholic and part of the LGBTQ+ community.
You can be Catholic and pro-choice.
