My most-read stories of 2024 included natural beauty, unmarked bars, happy hours, and, because there always has to be a Maryland-related story, cocktail usurpers on the Delmarva Peninsula. A thread...

A photo from last month, but I’m overjoyed with today’s result. (4-1 to the Arsenal!) Did not imagine we’d end 2025 at the top of the league.

D.C. Arsenal supporters raised almost $1,300 for the Capital Area Food Bank this afternoon, raffling off vintage jerseys, scarves, flags, hats and other memorabilia donated by DC Armoury members. Well done to everyone involved!

Bars and restaurants, it is December 2025. If you are closed for a private holiday event, post that on your (multiple) social media channels in case someone was thinking about travelling to visit you. It’s really not that hard.

In a bar doing a holiday movie marathon. “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” ends and we get “Love Actually,” the only time anyone has ever been happy to be at Heathrow. (Yes, that’s the least of its problems.)
