Here's my comic I made for AFC this year, it's "My Pal Edie"! I printed a bunch of actual mini books but now I'm sharing it online. I put an icon in the bottom of these pics so you can pretend it's an actual book, since I did think a lot about the page order. I'll be posting 1 page a day. 1/12
A 1950's style comic cover styled after an Atlas comics comic. The title is "My Pal Edie" in a fun font, the top right has a callout that says "12 gay pages", the top left has a circular logo reminiscent of the DC comics "bullet logo" that says 18+ in the center of the circle and the circle has text that says "Yes, This comic is (18+) No, I'm not kidding." There are a couple other random comic cover bits, like "SEPT, No. 1" or "250c, H" floating near the title. The main cover picture features two characters, Edie, a dog girl with long and fluffy blonde hair, and Stacy, a cat girl with short dark hair. Edie is sitting on a stool in front of a vanity mirror with a piece of cake sitting on the vanity tabletop, holding a fork with a piece of cake on it. Stacy stands over to the right, in a quizzical posture. Edie is saying "The doctor told me to watch my sugar intake." The bottom of the image features a block bar that holds a logo showing a closed booklet, with "YOU ARE HERE" printed on the front, showing that this is the cover page of the comic.

That's just how it is sometimes
There are three drawings that form a sequence. In the first drawing, Fritz the dragon is reclining with a relaxed expression while sitting on a cloud in the sky. The sky is slightly dark with a white circle that could be the sun or moon is visible. The second drawing is a followup where Fritz is sinking into the cloud he is on, with only his almost panicking face, and his waving and and legs visible. The third drawing is another followup where Fritz is almost completely submerged, with only his fingers, toes and the top of his head visible. His expression is again relaxed, or possibly resigned.

It is a classic 3 panel comic layout with three equally-sized boxes. Panel 1: Magneto wearing his classic cartoon costume and helmet is yelling "X-MEN! Prepare to be defeated!" while concentric purple circles emit from his hands. Panel 2: Cyclops and Wolverine, in street clothes, are hunched over pinball tables playing games of pinball on a row of machines underneath a banner that says "PINBALL TOURNAMENT." Wolverine is standing on a little stool because he's short lol. Panel 3: Magneto laughs maniacally at the top of the panel, while the rest of the panel shows a pinball heading straight down between the panel, then taking a sharp 180 degree turn and going back up. Concentric purple circles are going into the point where the pinball turned, showing that Magneto is using his power to cheat at pinball.

Mini-zine number 5 from FWA last weekend. For the first time, it's not just a bunch of suggestions (although a couple suggestions sneaked their way in there). This one's about my favorite robots. Pages 1-4 out of 8.
The cover features the title "Let Me Tell You About My Favorite Robots" across the top, with the 'My Favorite Robots' in a cool font. There's a "#V" in the bottom left corner, since this is my 5th zine. The illustration is a very small picture of Fritz the dragon standing between the legs of a giant robot that looks like a cross between Getter-1 and Fritz. (The robots in this zine are strictly not piloted so Getter-1 isn't really the best representative of what's in the zine, though) First inside page, text at the top says "Some robots that didn't make my top 5:" followed by four pictures of robots, with text saying their name and where they're from in parenthesis, then in a lighter font a little comment by me. Top-left: V.I.N.CENT from The Black Hole, My comment is "He is probably my first favorite robot". Top-right: Tengu Man from Mega Man 8, My comment is "He's a pretty easy boss, but he's very cool". Bottom-left: Robot Jones from Whatever Happened to Robot Jones?, My comment is "My GF's favorite robot♥" and Bottom-right: L-Ron from Justice League International, My comment is "The Giffen & DeMatteis run that introduces this guy is very goofy & fun" Top of the page says "#5: Shockwave" in large text, with the origin of the robot "(Transformers)" in smaller text below it. There is a large picture I drew of Shockwave holding a fist up and with his gun-arm at his side with smoke coming out of it. The caption says "Is one picture enough to consider something a favorite? When that picture is the cover of Marvel Transformers comics issue #5 it is. Wow, it's such a cool cover." Top of the page says "#4: Death's Head" in large text, with the origin of the robot "(Marvel Comics)" in smaller text below it. The picture features Death's Head in his second outfit, the black/dark blue and yellow one, kneeling with his mace hand attachment slammed into the ground. With his other arm he pulls a spear from the multitude of weapons he carries on his back. The caption reads: "Death's Head is possibly the only character to meet the Transformers, Fantastic Four and Dr. Who. Marvel UK was crazy in the 80s to the 90s. My fourth (and currently most recent) mini-zine I made. Made this one for FC earlier this year, and it's about movies instead of arcade games so the picks aren't as obscure. Not putting my high scores in let me make some larger drawings, which was fun. Pages 1-4 out of 8.
Zine is titled "Let me tell you about 6 cool movies that you (might) not know about!" Bottom right of cover says "FREE!" and bottom left says "#4". Illustration is Fritz the dragon holding a stack of a vhs, dvd and blu-ray player, with a bunch of vhs, dvds and blu-ray cases stacked on top of them. There's a bucket of popcorn precariously balanced on the side of the stack, and the stack is big enough to cover from his legs to the bottom of his face. The cord of one of the players drags on the ground and Fritz is stepping on it. First movie: TOYS (1992). My thoughts: "This movie has some of my favorite sets and costumes. It also features an oddly prescient plot about military drones piloted with video game controllers, AND Robin Williams! Somehow, even with all this, it's still SO BORING it's hard to watch. It's still worth a watch, but probably just once, though." Bottom of page features drawing of Fritz as Leslie Zevo walking into a set for a fake music video. First movie: Johnny Mnemonic (1995). My thoughts: "It's a cyberpunk movie where Keanu Reeves plays a character named Johnny! It's got some great 90s CGI and a surprising cast: Ice-T, Beat Takeshi, Henry Rollins, Udo Kier and a very good animatronic dolphin. The plot can be hard to follow and the script is pretty corny, but don't let that stop you- it's a super fun watch!" Bottom of page features drawing of Fritz as Johnny wearing special cyber-gloves and a visor and doing hand gestures to hack the internet. First movie: Lawnmower Man (1992). My thoughts: "Shortly before becoming James Bond, Pierce Brosnan starred in this sci-fi horror movie. It ended up so unlike the Stephen King story it got it's name from that King successfully sued to have his name removed from the advertising. It's not as bad as that makes it sound - actually it is very bad, but in a fun way. Watch out, though, the plot is pretty insensitive." Bottom of page features drawing of Fritz as Jobe the Lawnmower Man in the virtual world, angrily holding up one finger. A hexagon hovers in the background that says "ACCESS DENIED."

Body text is as follows: "(ROM name: nitrobal.zip/1993) Nitro Ball is what you would get if Smash T.V. was made in Japan. And it took place on a giant pinball table. Enemies tumble when shot and bounce of bumpers and into holes that give you bonus points. It's worth playing just to hear the announcer say "WELCOME TO *STRANGE* FOOTBALL FIELD!"" It does feature a bunch of wacky WW1-era Americana as interpreted by 90s Japanese devs, and a biplane with a physics-based hook that can pick up and throw almost anything!" Went to my first (second and third) furry convention last year, and I made a little mini-zine for each one about arcade games I like. Here's pages 1-4/8.
