I'd wager the Liberty owners grew bored after winning then losing a championship, and a fire sale is imminent. Their free agent retention should tell us whether I'm right or wrong.

Groveling for media credentials to Seton Hall at San Francisco and at Pacific this weekend. How times have changed — the media officials at those schools used to feed me on game nights.

Cal 20 Pacific 14 5:35 Tigers haven't scored in 9 minutes.

Pacific 12 Cal 5 4:05 During this 8-0 run, they look like the best Pacific team in 15 years.

Lenny Wilkens and Richie Adubato passed, and I wondered who'd be third if they do go in threes. Michael Ray Richardson — NBA All-Star stuck with the Knicks in his best years; even exiled to Golden State in '82— coached two CBA championship teams, twice coach of the year in the Canadian league.

Who has what would've been Los Angeles's first-round draft pick in the 2026 WNBA draft, and whom did the Sparks get in trade?

UCLA 68 UCSB 37 3:34 3d If you'd told me when Betts was a Stanford freshman and Kneepkens a Utah freshman that they'd be great together as seniors, I would've said: "Where?!".

I thought I might attend Oklahoma vs. UCLA in Sacramento. UCLA is the closest thing I have to a team, made up of Pac-12 pieces from Stanford, Utah, Oregon, Oregon St., Washington St.

Anyone else use the I VOTED sticker like a lint roller for cat hair?

Utah freshman Evelina Otto is from Riga, Latvia, where the main street or city square should be named for The Magician of Riga, world chess champion (1960-1961) Mikhail Tal. I spent a year of my life studying his games — a misguided and useless year, but we all want to be Tal.

Utah's starters today include a player I've never heard of. I didn't think I'd lose track this fast.

The University of West Georgia women's basketball team won its athletic department's crowdfunding competition — in part because they're the only UWG team with boosters in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Los Angeles Daily News said "Charlisse Leger-Walker's time has come for UCLA women's basketball", illustrated with a picture of Leger-Walker in a WaSU uniform playing against UCLA, and a 2010 calendar from her first year of eligibility.

South Korea gave that idiot a CROWN? Did they engrave "Nobel Peace Prize" on it, too?

Vanderbilt has a guard named Chandler Bing. He could be Dave Bing's son, and no one would notice.

Whisper of a rumor that USC coach Gottlieb is a candidate for the Liberty job. She's from Scarsdale, and worked at Syracuse. I'm for this becoming a full-blown rumor.

There are a bunch of morons who are saying aloud "see how much better the ghost runner rule is?".

Obama joked about this, remember.

Dunno about other ballyards, but they don't sell scorecards at Oracle Park these days. I feel bad for last night's fans at American Family Field who didn't get the unique thrill of scoring that 8-6-2 as it happened. That's a scorecard you keep (er, if the Brewers had won).

I was wrong about Dallas not firing Koclanes, because that would make them look like shitty, quick-triggered bosses for whom a better coach would not want to work. If Brondello takes the job, I'm wrong about both parts.

Be strong, Norwegian Nobel committee. Do not give in to that piece of shit.

I read it's National Coaches Day *and* National Bobcats Day. Montana State coach Binford isn't paying for any of her drinks tonight.

I don't think the basketball gods will smite us if we opt not to watch Indiana at Las Vegas gm. 2 after that Phoenix at Minnesota tilt.
