Digby County, Nova Scotia, I was using a telescopic lens and was about 40 feet away. This Snapping Turtle was pretty shy for being such a large creature. Maybe that's why it's so large and probably quite old. I was using a telescopic lens and tried to get a front shot but it jumped in the water.

Digby County, Nova Scotia, Canada - the lake has really warmed up over the week sparking weed growth on the lake bottom. This muskrat was eating the lake weeds in a bout 3 feet of water out in front of my cabin.

Digby County, Nova Scotia, Canada - I've been watching the progress of a goose family that have been hanging around the cabin. Unfortunately there were 5 goslings yesterday and only 3 today. We had some bad weather last night so I don't know if this took out 2 of the goslings or a predator got them.

Digby County, Nova Scotia, Canada - we have a pair of loons that spend time in the bay in front of our cabin. They got quite close yesterday as the goose family was up on the shore eating grass and the loons seemed very interested in what they were doing.

Painting my bee hives. Next step is getting the apiary area setup and then installing the bees the week of May 19 th. That’s when the real fun begins.

Beavers have been visiting us in the early evening. Fortunately it was still light enough that these photos turned out. I was about 15 feet away and this beaver didn't seem to mind that we were there. It likes the fresh grass chutes that are poking through the ground. Nova Scotia, Canada.

April 29th and went out in the kayak on Sprague Lake, Digby County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Looks like a painted turtle was enjoying the morning as well.

Digby County, Nova Scotia - back at the homestead earlier than usual. The leaves are not on the trees yet. We were visited by a pair of Loons. I just love seeing and hearing these birds.

I looked out the living room window that overlooks the river and thought I saw some Caspian Terns. As I got closer I realized they were Herring Gulls. Too bad as Caspian Terns are more interesting but that being said it's nice watching Herring Gulls in their natural environment.

From past experiences of bee keepers in the FB groups I follow electric fences often don't act as much of a deterrent with bears. There's bears in the area of my Apiary (Nova Scotia) So I'm going try this. It will be fun to try out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4yp...

Voted in the advance polls today (Canadian Federal Election). They were busy. It felt good to vote. I wonder if it will make a difference.

The Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island waterfront. It was quiet except for a cop delivering what looked to be a court summons to a women who was sitting at the edge of the boardwalk. It just added to the dystopia that was in play.

Mad Honey - produced by Honey bees that pollinate Rhododendron flowers. In small doses it can cause light headedness and hallucinations. I'll be setting up my apiary near some large Rhododendron bushes this spring. This might be better than mead LOL ... theapiarist.org/mad-honey/

Spent Saturday in Amherst Nova Scotia at the bird sanctuary. We didn't see many birds. Just chickadees as people hand feed them there. We also heard and then saw some Ravens who were busy building nests. The lakes are still frozen over and parts of the trail had hard packed ice. It was a nice day.
