I would like the world to know that I am so committed to letting the dice tell the story that I played a one shot where I rolled for my character and accepted being a spider in a list where I could have been a crow or cat or owl or fox or literally anything better.

Stumbling over the finish line at the eleventh hour for books read this year. 21 of 20. I'm a slow reader, but for the first time in a while I read multiple books with my eyeballs instead of *just* audiobooks.

Picking up the thread from earlier: I want to read (and write) derby that's fun and lively and exciting! I want readers to share in the pulse-pounding, mind-numbing rush of taking the line for the first time, the electricity-in-your-soul thrill when it comes down to a tie after 59 minutes.

I just wrote 1200 words in 20 mins, wtf. (Context: this is v fast for me.)
Turns out, a fictional jammer explaining derby drills is something I can just vomit out. Shocking, I know.

I've been reading a number of roller derby romance novels as research into my not-so-secret side project and I have yet to see one get derby right AND make it a compelling B-plot.
The closest I've seen to 'real' derby is a story that made it a kinda-there C-plot. It is my goal to thread the needle.
