UWE Philosophy – the BA course I’ve had the privilege to design, lead, teach, and defend over the years – has just reached the silver medal in the Guardian League Table, the UK’s most comprehensive university ranking system. An extraordinary achievement, and one we’re immensely proud of.

Spent my bday teaching Hegel, Marx, and Arendt all day—and it was great! My first-year students surprised me with cake, fruit, and this card that truly warmed my heart. Wishing them all the best in becoming evil prince(sse)s who will rule this run-down world and transform it into something glorious!

Anyone who thinks our benefit system is too generous, has clearly had their common sense surgically extracted by the Daily Mail.
Losing your job is financially catastrophic (esp for mortgage payers, who drop to just 12% of an average wage overnight). And our sickness benefits bill is similarly mean.

“This is a watershed event in the history of international justice. The ICC has never, in over 21 years, indicted a pro-Western official. Indeed, no international court since World War II has done so."

Our story on the ICC warrant just issued for Netanyahu:

The International Criminal Court Issues 'Watershed' Warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant, for War Crimes in Gaza
The court rejected arguments by the U.S. and Israel that the ICC does not have jurisdiction, subjecting the officials to potential arrest in 124 countries

Online seminar recap. Planned: 10' talk + Q&A with 4 respondents (me included). Reality: chair late, talk ran 30'. Two brief responses, one MEP gave a 30' random speech and left. Main speaker spoke another 25'. Time ran out before I could say a word. #badchairing?

Great event Friday at @wshed.bsky.social! Loved seeing students/alumni discuss #WorldPhilosophy. I shared thoughts on metaphorical uses of decolonisation (Tuck/Yang/Ricoeur). Huge thanks to @stellasandford.bsky.social, Adam Loughnane, Tzuchien Tho, and Katrina Mitcheson for chairing! #UWEPhilosophy
