Love to see Eva Victor nominated at the Globes but putting them in the "best actress" category really feels like an indictment of how this system is set up right now.

I had an awful habit of losing USBs in high school trying to transfer writing projects back and forth between my home and the school computers. more or less stopped needing them after that point except for like university presentations, and any writing stuff I would work through google docs. UNTIL.

@rianjohnson.bsky.social with Frankenstein getting a blu ray release, is there any shot of seeing Glass Onion and Wake Up Dead Man on physical media in the future?

You know, I feel like I interact with batteries a lot less than I did when I was a kid.

every time my job "strongly encourages" me to go to their chapels it uncorks a long-bottled aspect of me that hates 90% of evangelical music

This list is generally pretty good with the exception of Rogue One being too high and the consistent mistake of people thinking RotS is the best prequel when it is actually the worst.
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

A movie that takes place where you're from

For better or for worse

(May or may not be writing more about this soon)

New Rian Johnson interview is so good but mostly it gets on the "Rian's exvangelical angst is the secret sauce of his whole filmography" wavelength I've been saying for years and I'm so so excited that Wake Up Dead Man is apparently 90% that.

genuinely taylor laced something heinous in her newest album because any time a clip of song plays in an instagram reel that shit is stuck in my head on loop dealing psychic damage to me.

Letterboxd being down is incredibly stressful for people like me who's entire personality revolves around "open Letterboxd and look at all the colourful movies"

So the WestHills cineplex is currently the only theatre in Calgary showing either It Was Just an Accident or Nouvelle Vague - is it becoming the new Eau Claire, as a Cinplex-branded theatre that will play the indie/prestige hits?

Finally watching Inland Empire for Halloween. There’s nothing I love quite like being an hour into a Lynch movie and not understanding anything ✨

“Well let’s check out how the game went today”
*looks around*
“wtf do you mean it’s still going.“

the "video games are art!!" conversation is never going to go anywhere until video games stop remaking and remastering old games under the delusion that age makes them bad or innaccessible.

Art stands the test of time. If your creation needs to keep being reheated, it's not art, it's a product.

"engagement bait" is such a crass term. When I was a kid, we called it "ring by spring"

"you don't let taylor write fun albums anymore!!!" actually, fun. albums are written by nate russ and - you guess it - jack antanoff, so write that down

It's fascinating that, despite defining so much of her career around "storytelling" and investing so much into the album as an art form, really encouraging her audience to prioritize physical album releases and embrace the "era" format, Taylor hasn't made a truly cohesive album since folklore.

in many ways, "life of a showgirl" is the "i could never be your woman" of music

Well, say what you want but Taylor swift certainly did put out a new album today. she sure did.

I applied for two Master's programs last year and got rejected from both. This year I spent the last while thinking, "I should widen my net! I should explore more options!" only to get hit with the reality of application fees again and think "oh god is any of this affordable" I hate this world.

My first really full-blooded critique of silksong is, why the hell is there a cap on how many shard bundles and rosary necklaces/strings you can hold? I’d be more okay with the former if the latter wasn’t also true; why make a cap for this and also why cap it at such an odd height?
