Check out the Neighborful Station podcast - I've been listening since the beginning and I look forward to every episode. Great place to go when the world is too much and you need a reminder of what it could be like ... or what you can make it.
I’ve had some new followers arrive in recent days, so… welcome! I make a story based meditation podcast called Neighborful Station, and I’m so grateful you’re here. 😊💜 www.neighborfulstation.us

Be mindful when you're dealing with the young people in your life. They (and their friends) are taking notes....

"What made this so beautiful was the openness in the group, the acknowledgement we all had problems, the humility in knowing we could not walk this path alone, and the understanding that none of us had a monopoly on the truth. Acknowledging our individual weakness created our collective strength."

We all know someone who is on the edge, struggling.

Read that first line again. "You don't need a platform to be radiant." You already are, wherever you are.
You don’t need a platform to be radiant. You don’t need a five-year plan to be faithful. Just hold the world gently. Tend to your one wild soul. Be kind to the next stranger. Laugh, if you can. And when the evening comes…which it always does…walk home slowly…as if you belonged here. Because you do.

"I don’t think it’s pie in the sky to imagine ... a gift economy that runs right alongside the market economy.... We have the power to ... develop the local, reciprocal economies that serve community rather than undermine it."

Wouldn't that be great? #neighborful

Neuroplasticity is not the gospel, but it is a kindness of creation that collaborates with grace. When we repeatedly choose patience over hurry, blessing over cursing, presence over distraction, we become more able to choose them again.

When I die
Say goodbye
Then plant a tree
On top of me
Roots will hold
Me in the cold
And make me fit
as part of it
So that once again may I
Breathe the air and touch the sky.

Why are we talking about the 60 vote threshold as a given? The Senate could end the filibuster with a simple majority vote. Then pass the budget with ... a simple majority vote. If they want to end the shutdown, they can do it right now.

Why is no one talking about this?

This has new meaning, considering yesterday's gathering of flag officers.

The military can't defend us from every threat. Like executive overreach. Or legislative indifference.

In these cases, THE PEOPLE must carry the torch. Vote. Speak. Resist without violence.

WE, THE PEOPLE still have the power to act.

Be (and stay) one of the good guys.

Good and evil coexist in this world. If we attempt to root out evil, this is not justice, but vengeance.

Remember truth, dignity, and unity. Tell the truth; treat our perceived enemies with dignity; unity includes the other side.

The good guys become the bad guys when they forget this.

A well worn path toward the light,
imperfect but a place to roam,
There in morning, stop at noon,
And evening brings us back to home.
