We have just attended the unveiling for Mark Jones’ memorial stone on Wombwell High Street. It’s amazing to see something permanent to commemorate the life of Mark, and we’re thankful to everybody involved!

Remembering Mark Jones

On 6 February 1958, a charter plane crashed after refuelling in Munich. The accident claimed the lives of 23 people, including eight Manchester United players and three officials. We will never forget.

We're taking part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch!

Big Garden Birdwatch is the world’s largest garden wildlife survey, helping to build a picture of how garden birds are faring. We're taking part in the cemetery to see how our numbers are.

Birds include: Blue tit, Great tit, Blackbird, Sparrow, Coal tit, Goldfinch, Song thrush, long-tailed tit, collared dove, robin, chaffinch, jackdaw, starling, wood pigeon and carrion crow. Additional birds you may see if you're very, very lucky in the cemetery. These birds have only been heard or spotted once or twice. Wombwell Cemetery is open as usual over the festive period. Gates close at 5:30pm, Peace Garden closes at 4pm.
Christmas opening times: Cemetery: 8am - 5:30pm. Peace Garden: 8am - 4pm. With thanks to the volunteers.

🎅🏻Santa Paws Coffee Morning: Friday 19th December, 10am - 4pm.
Carols in the Community Hub poster. Join the Friends for a Christmas sing song, festive poetry, music and more, plus the reading of hearts from our memory tree. Followed by refreshments and a tasty mince pie. Saturday 13th December, 2pm, at the Community Hub Chapel in Wombwell Cemetery. Santa Paws Coffee Morning: Bring your furry friend to our Christmas coffee morning, where they can meet Santa and receive a scrumptious treat for a small donation! Plus tea and coffee, cake, and mince pies. Friday 19th December 2025. 10am - 4pm at Wombwell Cemetery Community Hub Chapel. Recommended Donation of £3.50. PLUS the best dressed pooch could win a festive toy.
