Today was our monthly community meal at Kinistinâw Park. We served lentil soup, rice, pita bread, and coffee to anyone who walked by. The meal went smoothly. Downtown looks so beautiful in the dark. Good work, team!

After many months of planning, carpentry, and organising, we have launched our newest program - the Community Pantry program! The pantry is a cupboard to which anyone can donate vegan, dried goods and from which anyone who's hungry can take food. It is located outside Westwood Unitarian Congregation

This year, we continue our partnership with the Community Service Learning program at the University of Alberta. Students from the U of A do practicums with us for course credit. Students learn about food security and the realities of poverty.

Indigenous people are disproportionately affected by houselessness and food insecurity. On June 21st FnB will be observing International Indigenous Peoples Day by giving out food and supplies to our houseless neighbors.

FNB is experimenting with new ways to hold meetings to accomodate our members better, including holding hybrid in person/online meetings, and alternating evening and morning meetings biweekly instead of one big monthly meeting. If you are interested in attending the next meeting, let us know!

Food Mountain 2: Electric Boogaloo! This one is Noodle Mountain! Earlier this week, we had our regularly scheduled bulk cook where our members made a delicious vegan noodle stir fry. Good went to people experiencing food insecurity in Edmonton through our meal delivery program, Helping the Humans.
