NEW in frozen: vegan pulled shiitake mushrooms from Fable. Might be great for Thanksgiving, especially for vegan and vegetarian members.
The supplier shared some recipe ideas.
Fable “meaty pulled mushrooms” package on freezer shelf $20 Recipe card: TEXAS BBQ STYLE FABLE SERVES 4 A simple dish crafted by Fable Co-Founder, Jim Fuller, that really shows off Fable's meaty flavor and texture Ingredients 17.6 oz Fable chunks 4 tbsp oil ¼ cup HP Sauce or Al Sauce ½ cup Bulls-Eye BBQ Sauce or Stubb's Original Barbecue Sauce Freshly cracked black pepper Tools Wok or flat grill Wok spade if using wok Grill spatula if using grill Method On high heat, get wok/grill hot-nearly smoking and do not lower heat throughout cooking. Introduce cooking oil, quickly followed by Fable chunks. Keep it moving while all sides of Fable get cooked for 2-3 minutes. Both hands should be used for cooking. Break up Fable chunks randomly while cooking. Do not lower heat. Introduce HP or A1 sauce and keep it moving. Expect steam and spatter. Develop caramelised external surfaces for 1-2 minutes. Introduce Bulls-Eye BBQ Sauce or Stubb's Original Sauce and keep it moving. Expect more steam and more spatter. Jazz with cracked pepper. Cook for a further 1-2 minutes. Turn off heat and serve while hot. Dig in and enjoy this perfectly sweet and sticky covered Fable. Finger-licking allowed! FABLE MASSAMAN CURRY SERVES 2 Meltingly tender chunks of Fable Pulled Shiitake in a fragrant curry Ingredients 1 tbsp tamarind pulp 4 fl oz boiling water 2 tbsp oil 17.6 oz Fable 17 fl oz coconut milk 4 cardamon pods, bruised 17 fl oz coconut cream (do not shake tin) 2-3 tbsp Massaman curry paste 8 baby onions 8 baby potatoes, cut in half if too large 2 tbsp fish sauce (sub vegan if preferred) 2 tosp sugar 70g unsalted roasted ground peanuts To serve and garnish ½ handful cilantro Red chili, sliced Rice or naan bread Method Put tamarind pulp and boiling water in a bowl and set aside to cool. When cooled, mash pulp to dissolve in water, then strain and reserve only the liquid. Heat the oil in a wok or large saucepan and cook Fable over high heat for 3-5 minutes, or until browned. Remove with slotted spoon and set aside to add back in later. Fry potatoes and cardamon pods for 3-5 minutes, then add coconut milk and simmer for 25 minutes. While potatoes are cooking, put thick coconut cream from top of the tins in a saucepan and bring to a rapid simmer over a medium heat stirring ocassionally, and cook for 5-10 minutes or until the mixture "splits" (the oil starts to separate). Add curry pasta and onion, cook for 5 minutes or until paste becomes aromatic and onions soften. Add slightly fried Fable, potato mixture, fish sauce, sugar, peanuts and tamarind liquid and let simmer for 10-15 minutes. Garnish with fresh cilantro and chili. fablefood.co/recipes |@fablefoodco
