It's important to note that motions for sanctions against counsel who break the rules is a well accepted if rare procedure. It is also something decided by the judge, not DOJ. I have filed several such motions in my cases where the opposing law crosses the line.

Sadly, the Russians are correct that Trump will back off on his threatened sanctions. They would be effective but would also damage the US economy. Thus, Trump is desperate for Putin to offer some fake concessions so he can declare victory and move on.

Trump wants to reduce trade deficit with tariffs. That strategy works: fewer goods will be imported into the US but US exports will remain the same or shrink. We solved the deficit problem but now we are all poorer. Why again are we worried about a trade deficit?
