Nothing quite like sitting down to grade a project, only to have to call the group that made it over and ask them why they left 2/5 of the required material out.

"Oh, I didn't realize that I had to do that part. I thought it was just a suggestion."

!!!!!!??????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?????

Oh my god why does Vitamin Water Zero taste like this. Where did they go wrong. Good lord.

At this point, I'm okay with Warner Bros. dissolving under the weight of pushing a slate of cool, director driven movies.

Was it stupid to do that in a market that follows brands and franchises? Yeah.

Has it been incredible enriching for cinema? Also yeah.

I'm so seated for Sinners. So seated.

The movies running this week are so weak that I can’t even be bothered to sit in on one while I wait to close

To be incredibly political, I weighed many options before purchasing an electric vehicle, and you know for the value a used Tesla would have been great.

But.

Elon Musk made himself so integral to the image of that company that I just couldn't bother. Fuck that guy.

It was the right call.

Apple Cinemas Greece Ridge is finally open.

I spent quite a lot of man hours testing playlists, setting sound levels for various content, testing equipment and scheduling, and making sure cues worked correctly across its 12 theaters as its lead projectionist. It's ready.

Good stuff.

lmao I just got like 3 emails loudly telling me I needed to patch the DCP for the movie Novocaine before its opening day.

I kinda wish they'd told me why, because I am now damn curious. What happened here?

Will we get to see a youtube video about the lost original content some day. lmao

Sucks to have to live at the whim of conservatives!

Like, the 2008 recession was really unpleasant, even as a kid who was in middle school! I felt the weight it placed on my parents in ways that I've never fully unpacked.

And now that I, at the age of 30, might have to deal with its sequel?

Was working on installing some new, exciting hardware when I heard a nice pop and that fun smell. That smelly smell. The smelly smell that....smells.

Fuckin ozone. There goes the HBA I was working on.

Over the years I have worked my way through F.E.A.R. a half dozen times, Tron 2.0, No One Lives Forever, and several Blood episodes - Monolith delivered some of the all time great PC titles.

Shame WB couldn't figure out how to keep one of the best studios to ever do it around.

Was hanging out with the GM of a theater in my chain, and he goes, "yeah, there's a new website to access the Dolby sound," and I'm like, sure. We're not using the CP 950 at this site

God he was referring to the Dolby IMS 3000 ui. An entirely new IMB in a building full of GDC SR-1000s. What a mess.

My weekend involved:
Swapping electrical components on a dimmer switch

Ingesting a movie in a projector for Screen X testing the long way complete with a USB 2.0 Hard Drive caddy for enterprise drives

Scrambling to get keys to ingest for said movie for Screen X training tomorrow.

What joy........

This is the truth that Tron lovers, such as myself, need to hear.

The movies are a mess. The ideas are the coolest things on the planet.

I would sell a limb to see Tron Legacy in IMAX 3D stateside. The BFI IMAX-goers don't know how cool they have it.

Tried to grade papers during my students' lab period and my right wrist just keeps falling asleep due to ongoing complications from carpal tunnel syndrome.

Gotta say that I really wish I'd considered what was going to happen to me like.....a decade ago. Feels like this could have been prevented.

You can tell @blankcheck.bsky.social is hosted by a couple of guys who live in NYC apartments because there isn’t an hour of the guys goin nuts about the incredible Atmos mix they gave Raiders for the 4K disc.

The sound mix is so unbelievably tied to my experience with Indiana Jones.

Heart Eyes is a pretty good attempt to make up for the Scream films abandoning of their lead for speaking up for Palestine.

The first half hour features some of the worst dialogue I've ever heard in a movie, which makes its ability to win me over by its bloody conclusion even more incredible.

Dude its nuts that Fathom Events' live streaming box only outputs Dolby Digital over TOSLINK in 2025.

Its even worse that my chain decided they wanted to incorporate this after installing this without bespoke processors.

And with this, I've decided my bluesky will be about running a cinema. lol
