A big 'kind of' Minden game today using Black Powder rules. Great to get these old figures out - the Prussians on the near side of the table were painted when I was still using gloss varnish! We didn't finish, but play will continue on Friday.

A cavalry-heavy game of Midgard Heroic Battles at the Wycombe Warband club this evening. Jon's Kievan Rus against my Normans. It was a quick and devastating victory for the the Normans. The scenario we played - Take the High Ground - requires careful thought with these armies!

Yes indeed, I did think the spectacle helmet was a bit early for 1066. Will definitely invest in some of the Mounted characters for my Normans though. Funnily enough I'm involved in a bit of a Norman production line this evening.

Just finished some Vendel Miniatures orcs. I fancied a bit of a change. Back to Normans next...

Ooh I've been looking at this range recently for Normans. Will be interested to see how these paint up.

A friend brought over a Peninsular skirmish game on Saturday - Forager - which I'd not played before. I had some appropriate background music on the shelf 🙂!

Sounded as if you had a great day planned yesterday. Sincerely hope this comes off 🤞

I hope not typical, or Midgard may not be the game for you 🤣!

Post a pic of the venue where you saw your first concert and the band or artist.

The Lurkers - saw them at the Fulham Greyhound in '79. Great memories!

Ah! Terrific!

I don't know whether Dagonbane was intended 😂, but only yesterday I was imagining proposing to Osprey a Lovecraft-themed game to be written by Daniel Mersey and titled Dagon Rampant!

Thanks James - great video. Even though I thought I knew all this, I did learn something today! Also, it's great to know these videos are here when introducing new players to the game. However as player who often commands an Elf army, I do have some issues to take up with you... 🧐

I used a Lamy Safari when I was a student, but for many years I've been working with a collection of works on paper, so rarely trust myself with a pen. This is my latest toy - a propelling pencil which looks like a normal one. Very nice in the hand and super smooth graphite lead 🙂!

What a handsome dog Oz was! Best wishes for 2026!

Last bit of painting for 2025. Three more archers finished this morning give me a second Ruckus retinue, plus a couple of extras which may be required depending on the turn of the cards.

Members of the Wycombe Warband played a big Midgard game of Mons Graupius this afternoon - 600 pts per side. It finished up with a very narrow Roman win: -4 tokens to the Caledonians' -5 on the last turn! Was very satisfying to play such a close game!

The Lead Mountain Boys held their annual Slay Ride game last night. Essentially a race across the table, gaining points for rescuing frozen cantinières or the eagle, or slaying wolves or cossacks, with double points if l'empereur happens to be looking your way at the time! All great seasonal fun 😀❄️

So dreadfully sorry to hear this news Ian. It's clear to everyone on here that Oz received so much love from you, and that you helped him live his best life right up to the end.

Great album, but I can no longer identify with the anger that my 15/16 year old self could. Strangely as my Sixty-something-year-old self probably has more to be angry about. People compared Greenfield's keyboards to the Doors back then.

Err, game keeper turned poacher, or something....

Thank you. It was my first time putting together a Ruckus table and I was pretty pleased with it, but it definitely needs to have more obstructing terrain next time.

Beautiful! But what a big difference between the two pictures. The figures virtually disappear in the one taken from the rear!

Played Ruckus at the Wycombe Warband club on Thursday and introduced a couple of new players. It was a good game, but I definitely need to have more scenery on the table next time. Of course I would say that as my opponent's bowmen had clearly been attending regular Sunday practice at the butts!

I know you're going to make them count.

So sorry to hear this. Here's hoping you now get the maximum possible amount of quality time together. Thinking of you both. I really enjoy seeing your photos of Oz on here.
