I recently read The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver. A major concern of the novel is McCarthyism. The main characters are trapped in the Kafkaesque Red Scare Nightmare, and it feels like the MCarthy era will never end. But it did.

So will this.

The President doesn’t give a f about any of us, whether or not we voted for him. We have reached the end of our usefulness in the transaction. Now it’s all about him him him and how he can keep giving to the Right wing wackos in exchange for more power.

It’s hilarious how often incompetent people fire their underlings. I guess it’s easy to deflect blame and pretend a while longer that your dumb-ass wasn’t the problem the whole time.

In the interest of realism and because Spielberg ran out of money, they (and the camera crew) really had to swim five miles back to shore.
Actors Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss preparing to film the iconic swim back to shore at the end of #JAWS (1975).

After doing many cryptoquotes I’ve concluded that, if you’re notable and saying something quotable, you need to make sure all of the letters in your name are also in the quote. Ex. Catherine Zeta Jones? Don’t say nothing unless it includes a Z and a J, else you’re becoming Catherine Beta Rones.

The tech companies seem to be overlooking one giant flaw with their AR glasses: they all look dopey af.

No amount of design can disguise the amount of computer you still have to mount on your face for them to work.

The thing about the Epstein disgustingness that strikes me hardest is that hundreds of rich old men raped underage girls and the only person currently in jail for that vile behavior is a woman.

Superhero movies need whimsy and #Superman had that in spades. No apologies for the costumes. Silly dog action. An “anti-proton” river. A goofy looking kaiju you wanna cuddle. A green cgi baby. It had a confident swagger to its weirdness that was immensely satisfying.
