The added anxiety of "Oh fuck I have to navigate this with most of my party dead" is so fucking good.

I fucking love dealing with this shit in wizardry. yes give me this insanely long corridor of pure darkness right after I just barely escaped a difficult encounter that killed my healer and another party member while leaving my allies in critical condition. yes give me that stress of being lost

It's actually incredible how much of this map I explored before I found the stairs down.

Now for the real conundrum, do I try to complete the map? an incomplete map is gonna bug me to hell lol

What's with this analogue horror-ass monster art lmao

Isn't it amazing that the least scary encounter of these are the fucking DRAGONS lol
idk why the images are ordered like this, I actually faced the dragons first

Devil Dice

Control a cherubic devil that runs across the tops of a dice, flip it over to match the adjacent dice numbers, 6 will eliminate the entire row and become one step closer to complete the level.

Playing Wizardry again has kinda brought up this thought I've had for a while.
Before you can even attempt to make a distinction between "JRPGs" and RPGs made, well, anywhere else I guess, you need to play a Wizardry game.

That is, if you even think there are any real distinctions that is.

so many people need wizardry in their life but could not be convinced of the truth of it until it was packaged into a hobbesian shooter for their sensibilities

going on twitter now is like the dark world part of link to the past, where the shape of things is roughly the same only now instead of the friendly villagers there's some demihuman freak snarling at you going "welcome to the village of assholes!! we hate you!!" also the trees shoot bombs now

Level 3 in wizardry is so fascinating to me. I assume it doesn't really stand out among it's contemporaries but it's kinda wild that not only did games back then would outwardly go out of their way to deceive you, but this is now just seen as practically a crime against the player nowadays

Mapping in Wizardry is absolutely scratching that exploration itch in a way I haven't done before, I've been fully converted on mapping now.

That said, automap is still awesome but if the game was originally designed around not having it I will no longer use it.

I'm slowly making my way through level 3 and am having a relatively easy time compared to the snes version... is the visibility of the pits and spinners a new addition for the Llylgamyn Saga?

Anyways I got caught out by this area lol, not the nicest thing to do, game...

Roaming around level 3, these fuckers scare the shit out of me every time. My previous experience with Wizardry 1 puts me on edge against these guys

I know I'm basically in the honeymoon phase atm with Wizardry but I'm kinda interested in playing Wiz4 after I'm done with this trilogy...

For those who have not had the pleasure of playing first person dungeon crawlers I want to show you what dark zones look like when you're actually playing the game

Level 2 of Wizardry now mapped out, well as much as I could find anyway. Dumapic spell makes this a LOT easier, and I'm assuming not starting out with it is down to chance.
That said, the dark zone in the top left corner is frankly diabolical. And it feels like I've missed out on some secret doors

Gotta say, I think I've seen the light with mapping out dungeon crawlers manually. This rules!

The level 1 map in particular is excellent, I feel like outside of like, an adventure game Wizardry 1 seems to be a very good starting point to learning how to do it.
