Shirley Chen in Beauty Alteration Body Horror 'Slanted' Official Trailer
Shirley Chen in Beauty Alteration Body Horror 'Slanted' Official Trailer
"Mean Girls meets The Substance." Bleecker Street Films has revealed the official trailer for the indie horror film Slanted, another body horror beauty film joining this growing subgenre. After the mega success of The Substance, it seems like everyone has a story to tell about beauty standards. This one has a race angle - an insecure Chinese-American teenager undergoes experimental surgery to appear White, hoping to secure the prom queen title and peer acceptance. Slanted premiered at last year's SXSW Film Festival and also played at the Seattle, Sydney, Calgary, Nashville Film Festivals. The film features a sketchy beauty company called Ethnos: a mysterious cosmetic surgery clinic that makes people of color appear white. Joan undergoes the procedure and wakes up a beautiful blonde destined for the crown, but at what cost? Starring Shirley Chen as Joan, Mckenna Grace, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Elaine Hendrix, and Megan Hayes. This looks just as unsettling and upsetting as The Substance, but with a few twists of its own. Reviews are mixed from fests, stating "the superficial nature of its satire winds up softening a lot of its sharper edges." Have a peek. // Continue Reading ›

Teaser Trailer for 'Los Lobos: Native Sons' Doc About the East LA Band
"Our goals are to expose music as far as we can, to take it to different parts of the US, Mexico, the world if possible." Gather 'round to experience the tale of one iconic band! A first look teaser trailer has debuted for the band called Los Lobos – in a documentary film called Los Lobos: Native Sons. This is premiering at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival coming up in March, hence why the teaser is out now to build up some early buzz before the fest begins. Los Lobos (Spanish for "the Wolves") is an acclaimed, world-famous Mexican American rock group from East Los Angeles, California, best known for their popular take on "La Bamba" (the best!!), and the theme song for Handy Manny. This doc is the definitive, authorized chronicle of one of America’s most enduring, genre-defying bands. Through electrifying performances and candid interviews—with Linda Ronstadt, Rubén Blades, Tom Waits, Dolores Huerta, Danny Elfman, Jackson Browne, Cheech Marin, Edward James Olmos, Peter Frampton, George Lopez, Bonnie Raitt, and more, the film celebrates their legacy as cultural trailblazers blending rock, roots, and Mexican traditions into a sound uniquely their own. IMAX Re-Release of The Who's 70s Rock Opera 'Tommy' New Trailer
IMAX Re-Release of The Who's 70s Rock Opera 'Tommy' New Trailer
"Your senses will never be the same again!" Let's play some pinball! The Who's iconic rock opera Tommy is getting re-release in IMAX for two nights only this March. IMAX has unveiled a new official trailer for the re-release of Tommy, which first hit theaters in 1975, making this year's re-release a celebration of its 51st anniversary. Tommy is the rock opera musical movie created by and starring the band known as The Who. It's written, co-produced, and directed by Ken Russell, based on the Who's album of the same name, about a psychosomatically deaf, mute, and blind boy who becomes a pinball champion and religious leader. The film features an epic ensemble cast, including the members of the Who themselves – most notably, lead singer Roger Daltrey, who plays the titular role – along with Oliver Reed, Ann-Margret, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Jack Nicholson, Robert Powell, Keith Moon, Paul Nicholas, Pete Townshend, and Tina Turner. Remarkably this film got away with only a PG rating despite all that is going on. This looks totally bonkers! A crazy fun throwback to the 60s and 70s era when they were making all these movies with rock bands, going all-out wild with extravagant ideas & weird concepts & whatever they could think of. Rock on. // Continue Reading ›

Pom Klementieff is a DJ Looking For Her Friend in 'Mi Amor' Trailer
Pom Klementieff is a DJ Looking For Her Friend in 'Mi Amor' Trailer
"It's not like her, at all, to disappear without saying anything." Le Pacte in France has unveiled their first trailer for an indie thriller film called Mi Amor, the latest made by French filmmaker Guillaume Nicloux (of To the Ends of the World, La Tour, The Baby, The Divine Sarah Bernhardt). This just premiered at the 2026 Rotterdam Film Festival (aka IFFR) a few weeks ago but doesn't have any other release dates set yet. French actress Pom Klementieff stars as Romy – a French DJ touring the sun-bleached, club-lit Canary Islands, until her friend vanishes. Met with evasion from locals and the authorities, her search leads her to a magnetic stranger and the sinister proprietors of an exotic animal sanctuary. IFFR adds more: "In Mi Amor, Guillaume Nicloux builds a taut & slickly paced disappearance thriller that transforms the extreme natural beauty of the island into something altogether sinister and strange, driven by an always pulsing techno score by French artists Irène Drésel and Sizo Del Givry." The film stars Pom Klementieff with Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Elina Löwensohn, Benoît Magimel, Freya Mavor, & Anaël Snoek. This seems very similar to Jan-Ole Gerster's film Islands – also set on the Canary Islands about a disappearance, with similar vibes. // Continue Reading ›

'The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist' Film Official Trailer
'The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist' Film Official Trailer
"We need to take a threat from AI as seriously as global nuclear war." Focus Features has unveiled the first official trailer for the movie The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist, a new documentary (among many like it) about all this modern Artificial Intelligence technology. Is it actually any good for us? Or just plain dangerous? From the director of Navalny – a father-to-be tries to figure out what is happening with all this AI insanity. The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist is a hand-made, eye-opening doc film about the most powerful technology humanity has ever created... and what's at stake if we get it wrong. Combining expert interviews, home videos, and animations, the film meets this pressing AI discourse with curiosity and heart, clarifying complex ideas while acknowledging how much remains uncertain & human. Rather than "claiming to have all the answers, The AI Doc offers a conversation that feels urgent, hopeful, impossible to ignore." I'm certainly intrigued and I really, really want to watch this just to see where it goes, and what it explores. But I think it's all too easy to be sold on the promise of AI and what tech dudes claim, rather than the actual reality and snake oil sales man truth behind what's really going on in AI. Take a look. // Continue Reading ›

Berlinale 2026: 'At the Sea' is an Entirely Useless Waste of Amy Adams
Berlinale 2026: 'At the Sea' is an Entirely Useless Waste of Amy Adams
Every once a while a film comes along that is so miserably boring and uninteresting, there is nothing more that you'll wish for than to get those 2 hours back. No matter which great actor pops up in this film, none of them are able to provide any kind of worthwhile performance to make it any better. It's a complete waste of time and a waste of talent. At the Sea is the latest film from Hungarian filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó, following up his previous films Pieces of a Woman (2020) and Evolution (2021). Unfortunately it's probably his worst one yet – an especially dour, meandering, tedious mess of a film about an alcoholic woman who returns to her family after finishing a stint rehab. But it's not really about that as much as it is about a group of stuck up, wealthy, dysfunctional people living in a big, fancy house on Cape Cod. Every day they wake up and go to the beach and then yell at each other and fight and that's about it. And this just happens on repeat for nearly two hours. Amy Adams tries to make amends and show her family that she's better, but they don't really care. And neither do we, the audience, as none of these characters are worth knowing or interesting in any realistic way. Harsh to say but I was surprised by how every single person in the film is a proper a-hole. // Continue Reading ›

Official Trailer for 'D is for Distance' Documentary Film About Epilepsy
Official Trailer for 'D is for Distance' Documentary Film About Epilepsy
"Time future contained in time past. The same old story..." BFI has revealed the main official trailer for an acclaimed indie documentary film titled D is for Distance, made by two filmmakers telling their own story as parents of a boy with epilepsy. Made in the UK, this experimental doc film is opening in UK cinemas starting in April. It premiered at the 2025 Rotterdam Film Festival and played at Thessaloniki, London, and Vienna Film Festivals as well. A meditation on cinema, the NHS and family relationships, D is for Distance tells the story of the filmmakers' son Louis, and his debilitating experiences living with epilepsy, through an extraordinary archive of personal footage. Narrated by English actress Jodhi May. Louis, who is now 22, is also an emerging artist working in London. The experiences of his condition have vividly influenced his paintings, drawings and etchings, exhibited during last year's London Film Festival and seen throughout the film as well. D is for Distance is also a celebration of music, including songs from Holger Czukay, The Everly Brothers, Ennio Morricone, King Krule, and others. Certainly seems like a unique cinematic creation. // Continue Reading ›

New Olympics TV Trailer for 'Project Hail Mary' Ryan Gosling in Space
New Olympics TV Trailer for 'Project Hail Mary' Ryan Gosling in Space
"You are the only scientist who might know what this is." One month to go! Amazon MGM Studios + Sony debuted a new 60-second promo spot on TV during the Olympics this past weekend for the epic sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary. This was debuted during one of their sports promos involving the athletes - and this final TV trailer aired right after. It's more of a featurette with footage of Gosling explaining what's going on in the movie. Adapted from Andy Weir's acclaimed novel of the same name, this is the story of an astronaut who tries to save Earth while alone in outer space. The movie stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, who wakes up on a spacecraft at Tau Ceti with no memory of himself or his mission. But he then figures out he was sent here to help save Earth and must now figure out what to do entirely on his own – until he meets another creature. Co-starring Sandra Hüller as Eva Stratt, Ryland's superior, and Milana Vayntrub as Olesya Ilyukhina, his other Russian crewmate. This third trailer (view the other two) features tons of footage with Rocky, his alien friend (an on-set real puppet not CGI) who helps him figure out how to save the stars. After the final trailer that launched during the Super Bowl I don't need to see more - I cannot wait to watch. // Continue Reading ›

Berlinale 2026: İlker Çatak's Clever 'Yellow Letters' - Artists vs Politics
Berlinale 2026: İlker Çatak's Clever 'Yellow Letters' - Artists vs Politics
In these contemporary times, with the world becoming more & more authoritarian by the day, it's important to speak out, speak up, and take a stand. But doing so can be dangerous, of course. Artists have always been a target of authoritarian regimes – because they often use their art to speak out, speak up, and stand against the government and their oppression. German-Turkish filmmaker İlker Çatak's latest film is a tale of two artists who start to struggle when an authoritarian regime comes for them and starts to censor, shut down, and oppress their way of living and their vitally important artistic expression. His new film is titled Yellow Letters, also known as Gelbe Briefe in German, and it's set in Germany though he's using the prominent German cities to double as two prominent cities in Turkey (Berlin is Ankara, Hamburg is Istanbul). The title is a reference to German culture – in Germany, a yellow letter is an official, legally binding document from courts, authorities, or police – often indicating a summons, lawsuit, penalty order, or debt collection. You don't want to get one of these, especially if it's saying you're in trouble for your art or something you stated. // Continue Reading ›

New US Trailer for Sergei Loznitsa's 'Two Prosecutors' Corruption Film
New US Trailer for Sergei Loznitsa's 'Two Prosecutors' Corruption Film
"They need innocent people to incriminate themselves, in order to justify their actions... They fear being unmasked." Janus Films has unveiled the official US trailer for the indie film titled Two Prosecutors, the latest work from the Ukrainian filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa (also director of My Joy, In the Fog, A Gentle Creature, Donbass). This premiered at last year's 2025 Cannes Film Festival and it also played at Karlovy Vary, Toronto, New York, London, and many other major fests worldwide. Set in the USSR back in 1937, a newly appointed prosecutor discovers an undestroyed letter from a prisoner that reveals corruption in the secret police, the NKVD. His search for the truth becomes dangerous. The new film from great Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa is a scalpel-precise tale of the horrors of totalitarian bureaucracy. With Aleksandr Kuznetsov, Aleksandr Filippenko, Anatoliy Beliy, Andris Keišs, Vytautas Kaniušonis, Valentin Novopolskij. The film is described in many positive reviews as "a Kafkaesque tale that is laced with bitter irony, exploring ideas of justice and legacy." Festival Trailer for 17th Century German Film 'Rose' with Sandra Huller
Festival Trailer for 17th Century German Film 'Rose' with Sandra Huller
"I never before was able to think of a tomorrow. I was far too busy surviving each day." Meet the Soldier. The Match Factory has unveiled the first official trailer for the Austrian-German film titled simply Rose, the third feature from Austrian filmmaker Markus Schleinzer. It's premiering this weekend at the 2026 Berlin Film Festival in the Main Competition - hence why this trailer is out now timed to its initial premiere. The true story is about a woman in the early 17th century, who disguises herself as a former soldier to work in a village, and wants to be a good citizen at any cost. Acclaimed German actress Sandra Hüller stars as Rose, with Caro Braun, Marisa Growaldt, Godehard Giese, and Augustino Renken. Set in the early 17th century, somewhere within Germany, a mysterious soldier arrives in an isolated Protestant village. He works hard to prove himself to the other villagers, but all of this is based on a lie. It's described as "the true and twisted tale of a swindler who, defying her birth as a woman, comported herself as a man and deceived a village." Not the most exciting footage to watch in this trailer but certainly a film to keep an eye on anyway. // Continue Reading ›
