Deeply grieved by how many people will celebrate (or even just be unoffended by) someone who will co-opt the celebration of Christ's birth as a way to quite literally say "go to hell" to others.

mfw people substitute mythology for the kerygma

This season, there is only one defense against commerce--a powerful, intentional, disciplined celebration of Advent with full understanding of its conquering promise. A good sermon about John the Baptist--"He must increase, I must decrease"--will point the way to the reign of Jesus Christ.

As a hospice chaplain, watching the UK pass the assisted suicide bill grieves me deeply. It’s a nihilist capitulation to the forces of death in the name of “rights” — it immediately exposes the physically vulnerable and economically exploited to incredible risk.

We have vastly underestimated the human toll of conspiracy theory’s entanglement in Christian faith.
