Christmas has past, and I have NOT fallen into Whamhalla! But this idea came to me just BEFORE Christmas, so I see it up a couple of days ago and waited. Lol

Also, big thanks to Walter Simonson and Dik Browne for the inspiration for the fantasy panels.

Hope you enjoyed this little Holiday mini-story, A Finding Dee Christmas! It WILL be collected... along with lots of other strips... in an old-school, floppy comic book in 2026, and this will be the cover, which I'm sharing early as a Christmas Treat!

Since it's Christmas, I gave myself the gift of TOTALLY copying that last panel from the last strip and just tweaking Rick's expression. Sometimes the gift of SELF-CARE is important.

If you celebrate something, have a happy one! If you don't, have a happy THAT too! <3

Decided to play around and COLOR that Galvatron piece I drew for fun yesterday. Specifically, he's colored in a style and palette reminiscent of the classic Marvel comics, as I loved those.

My Peanuts homage strip from LAST year is... a smidge less cynical than the other one. Just a smidge. And it was a perfect candidate to color in this style, just for fun.

An after-work, mostly brush pen. Drawing of GALVATRON... just because I have been In a Transformery mood.

#artvsartist2025 #artvsartist Hey, since all the COOL kids are doing it, I'll pretend! lol

Well, this is a run of Christmas-themed strips... ONE was bound to ditch the punchline for some heartfelt sentiment. It’s basically Christmas Special LAW.

Though this strip runs today, it’s set on Christmas Day. Hence, Rick’s indignation.

When I was younger, I watched a TV documentary where Charles Schulz drew PEANUTS with a specific pen. I rewatched it obsessively and was pretty sure it was a Paper Mate Flair. I bought a bunch, trying to make them work magic... before learning what he and other cartoonists actually used. Lol

Some people measure the length of time the sun is in the sky to determine the official beginning of Winter, the shortest day, and the march towards Spring. I... have a decidedly different metric. lol

I don't quite know why I love making fake little mock-ups like this, but I do. :)

The week of Christmas is usually the SLOWEST week for traffic and engagement with my webcomic, so of COURSE it’s when I decide to make and post extra strips! Stress: It’s my present to myself because I am deeply uncomfortable with downtime. Merry Happy!!
December 20, 2025 at 3:59 PM
Boy, how things have changed since I first drew this Charles Schulz/PEANUTS homage strip. I have happily let Rick take the mantle of Grinch-face. Lol

A NEW Blog post about the strip going FULL COLOR in 2026 for Patreon and Substack backers: substack.com/home/post/p-...
Transitioning to COLOR in 2026!
As the ad says, FINDING DEE has been… mostly… in black and white since it was launched in 2017 as an… again, mostly… weekly webcomic.

A follow-up to the strip that ran on Tuesday, featuring ALTERNATE "Finding Dee" merch ideas.

I really like doing these rougher, "pencil only" bonus strips on occasion. It's fun to play around.

I'm FINALLY pulling the trigger in 2026! Finding Dee will experiment... with new, FULL COLOR comic strips! These will be exclusive to PATREON at the $5 level ( patreon.com/bigpondcomics) so, if you want to get an extra special WOW from your new comics, join today!

Honestly, Heidi’s gotten a lot BETTER about over-planning for holiday meals. I mean, we only get a small Turkey BREAST for the slow cooker, and not an entire bird.

After making those hologram trading cards, it reminded me of OTHER ideas for Finding Dee merchandise I've pondered over the years...

I ended up NOT finding a place to get "business cards" with one-sided holofoil paper, and ended up printing REGULAR cards, and then a set of holofoil STICKERS to fix to the one side. These won't be handed out for free at this point, but should make fun incentives, and I'm THRILLED at how they look.

Being broke means always having to say "no" at the toy aisle. Well... ALMOST always. I am REGULARLY tempted by so, SO many things.

When I saw these awesome pencils by Fernando Ruiz for an ARCHIE COMICS Army of Darkness crossover, I HAD to take a crack at inking them for fun between projects. This was WAY too much fun to do.

When I wrote this strip originally, it had no dialogue. And while I think it could have worked that way, I think it has more punch with the vaguely specific indication that I am taking a DUMP in the last panel. This is why you read Finding Dee... For That high-end, classy humor. ;)

Yeaaah, my office isn't ANY cleaner than it was during this interview with Jamar Nicholas for the NCS two years ago! lol

After doing that MAD Magazine cover homage a few weeks ago, I wanted to try drawing in the style of legends like Mort Drucker and Tom Richmond. This is my first attempt at a caricature, and it’s definitely not there yet—the lines and vibe are off—but I’m keeping at it and figured I’d share!

Another Darth Vader doodle. This time, much more cartoony, just 'cuz.

I'm sure SOMEone's done this joke before, but it seemed like a fun idea to sketch up.
