A democracy isn't just about the will of one elected leader being implemented—it’s about a system where power is distributed, checks and balances exist, and different branches of government (executive, legislative, and judicial) have roles in decision-making.

Republicans in Congress have devoted their professional life to obtaining power and are now content to sit by and let Trump and Musk make their positions irrelevant by repeatedly violating the law.

The real power of authoritarian leaders isn't to make people believe lies, it's the power to make people repeat lies they know are untrue.
