Prof Maria McIlgorm got her flu jab through @setrust.bsky.social and said it was one of "the simplest ways of protecting you, your family, and your patients from flu".

It's hard to overstate how brave what she did was, at the time she did it. It's also impossible to quantify the number of women's lives her actions saved. It was one brick out of the wall of the theocracy at a time when that wall seemed permanent and unchangeable. RIP May. A feminist icon.

Day 3 of the #IrishBookWeekChallenge: An Irish Debut Book. It has to be the superb Nesting by Roisín O'Donnell. I can not recommend this book highly enough. If you've been to the shop, I've likely tried to make you buy it! It will be hard to beat as my book of the year.

This clip has been circulating a lot and look I don't want to be critical, it's great that it's inspiring people.

BUT. There is one thing he says that's inaccurate and it's important that people understand the reality.

He says that their trade union didn't support them. That's not true.
The story of how Ireland became the first western nation to implement a nationwide ban on South African goods during the apartheid era beautifully told. This cheered me up immensely.

I don't know where this revisionism has come from about the suffragettes - people saying "if the suffragettes were around today, they'd be considered terrorists."

The suffragettes were arrested and tortured, sexually assaulted and beaten by the state. They *were* considered terrorists!
